"I saw him walk to the water fountain, sir," Jubril replied in his usual Hausa accent.
Demilade nodded and walked away to where the water fountain was situated which wasn't so far from the gate.
He met the man sitting on the side of the fountain deep in thought. He moved closer to him and called his name.
"Mr Bamidele." He called.
He quickly jerked up. He looked so sorry and he looked away in shame.
"I'm sorry sir. I had forgotten the time." He apologized quietly.
"It's okay but please don't let it happen again." He said to him.
He nodded. Demilade handed him the car key. He took it and he began to walk in the direction of the car park.
"Mr Bamidele." He called. The man stopped and turned around.
"Yes sir." He answered.
"Are you okay sir? Do you have anything you want me to know?" He asked concerned about the man's countenance.
The man looked uneasy and he thought about telling his boss his problem. Then he decided to give it a try. He hoped to hear something good.
"Sir, there is....... something I want to ask." He started. Demilade gestured for him to go ahead. "My daughter needs a job, I don't know if you have any vacancy at your office."
"I don't know. But remind me when we get to the office. I will ask Uche about it."
His face brightens up. "Thank you sir. Thank you."
"Let go sir. We are running late." He said and they walked to the car.

When Demilade got to his office, his P. A Dayo Oriyomi came to meet him in the lobby.
"Good morning Mr Demmy." He greeted. He was the only one with his secretary that call him Demmy. Any other person at work calls him Mr Demilade.
"Morning. How was your night?" He asked stepping into his elevator.
"Good sir. And you?"
"Fine."
"Sir Uche called this morning. She is having a stomach upset and won't be able to come today." He said to his boss.
He sighed. Dayo will have to do all the work.
"Tell her to take the day off. She deserves it." Demilade said to his PA. He nodded and they both walked out of the elevator.
"You have a meeting with the constructing team by 10 pm," Dayo announced to his boss and he told him the rest of his schedule for the day just as Uche would have done if she was in office.
When he was done, Demilade said. "Dayo."
"Sir. "
"Mr Bamidele asked if his daughter could get a job here. See if there are any vacancies and get back to me." He said to him. The man nodded and walked out of the office.
Later in the day after Demilade meeting with a business client, Dayo said to him.
"Mr Demilade, there are few vacancies in the company and also at the warehouse but since she is a girl, I don't think she can work in the warehouse," Dayo said.
"Okay. Find out about the family situation. And tell Mr Bamidele to tell his daughter to come to see me tomorrow. I will see if I can get a place for her. I think they really need it." He said.
"Alright, sir."
"What next?"
"You have dinner with Mr Alexander's daughters."
Demilade huffed loudly. Those ladies were spoilt brats. But he had to cope with it because he needed the deal with their family.
"Okay. Tell the driver to prepare the car, we are going to the hotel. I need to change my suit. Give me the paper for the DA construction."
Dayo did and he went out to carry his boss's instructions.
While glancing through his paper he remembered that he have something to do. He picked up his phone and dialled a number. The receiver answered on the first ring.
"Hello, Mr Demmy. " Uche usual voice sounded on the phone.
"I'm glad you are back to normal. Sorry I didn't call you earlier. " He said.
Uche might be his secretary but she was also a friend. And she was a very loyal friend, a great secretary that was so good and diligent in her work. She doesn't allow personal stuff into business which was one of the rules he took seriously. She deserved the best from him.
"Thank you sir for the concern." She appreciated it gratefully. "And also the leave. It's a great help."
"You deserve it and it is also to make up for the time you will be alone when Dayo takes his leave."
"Yes. His leave is soon. But thanks. Thanks for calling." Uche said.
"You are welcome." He said and he ended the call.

"... Really dad?" Lola asked when her father told her about what his boss told him.
She was excited and didn't seem to believe it. She had expected it to last longer. But it didn't.
"Yes, dear. He asked you to come to see him tomorrow. He will send me the time." He said with a smile.
"Thank you dad. I'm so happy right now. Maybe something good will come out of this. Gratefully, he has connections." She beamed with joy. "But dad," She paused as something clicked in her head. "won't they ask about my qualifications?"
"Let's believe he will find a place for you." Her father assured her.
"I hope so." She said, hopefully.
