AN: I know I need to edit this chapter, but I want to get this out early. I also briefly screened this so please let me know if anything is wrong.
It was supposed to be a simple mission. Go in, take the package, then leave. No problems were supposed to come up, but...

It went to hell fast.
Team RWBY and Support Team PNR (Pioneer) were sent to an outlying village to recover an item of great importance for Ozpin. They were expecting medium to a small amount of resistance, hoping to have a fast mission and be back by dinner.
The missile hit the ship before they knew they had been locked onto.

I was sitting in the back of the transport dangling my legs off of my seat, swinging them back and forth as I took in my teammates. Weiss was sitting across from me with her eyes closed and clutching Myrtenaster as it's tip balanced against the floor. I looked down to see Yang and Nora doing a push up contest as they stared each other down, with Blake and Ren reading or meditating on their backs as they did so. I smiled as I turned towards the back of the ship's hold, only for my smile to vanish as Phyrra sat alone next to the ramp, holding a scroll.
I got up and walked towards Phyrra who was too fixed on her scroll to notice anyone approaching her like she usually did. Concern grew for her until I saw the picture on her scroll, then it was replaced with sympathy. It was a picture of our teams a few months after initiation, both mine and Phyrra's teams had gone out for a celebratory meal together for something I couldn't remember, but the 8th team member I could never forget. He was the first one that had been kind to me at Beacon and showed nothing but to those around him, that was one of the many things that made him special.
Jaune Arc
I smiled fondly at the memories that involved him until I flinched... sharply. We betrayed him when his secret was revealed, he was our rock when we needed someone to lean on, yet when he needed it, he fell. It was only after he had disappeared one morning that most of us who had showed hate or disdain had turned into glee and happiness until professor Ozpin had showed everyone the recording.
Jaune Arc, the labeled coward and cheat of Beacon, charging in and saving one of his fellow classmates without a second thought. And in those few seconds, we all realized that he had the soul of a true huntsman, willing to protect everyone and anyone by putting himself on the line. He didn't have the training or experience that the rest of us had, sure, but he had the unlimited potential to become greatness. Only to be stabbed in the back by those he was trying to protect... repeatedly. Phyrra was devastated when she found out... it took a couple of professors and teams to restrain her after she had attacked team CRDL and had already broken all of their auras and some bones. We could all feel the reluctance in stopping her, yet our betrayal of Jaune was fresh in our minds as we all knew what he would be doing. He was a shield to those who needed it, non caring if they were human or Faunus, he was always protecting others. No matter what.
I frowned as I came back to the present, reaching over, I put a hand on Phyrra's shoulder, causing her to jump and pull Miló into her hand. She only stopped when she saw me, my heart pulled as she clenched her eyes shut and shuddered out a breath. It was hardest on her when we found part of his sword and pieces of his sword and shield near a ruined village, and it turned even harder when we followed his relatively fresh trail. Blake had picked up on it from her past White Fang experience in hunting others, she was able to lead us through seemingly small branches broken and some with black string from his hoodie. We all followed where Blake had looked when she had suddenly gasped and snapped her neck up, only to regret it as we all looked up to see his arm up in a tree.
