"Again? What happened to the money I just gave you?" Dad asked, upset. I would be too if my son just used my money to be drugs.

"Uh well, it just goes, you know." Leo responded. I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, yeah. You're on it again, arent you?" Dad asked, becoming more angry with each word.

"No, no, no, I swear it's not that." Leo lied.

"Dont lie to me, Leo!" Dad said, his voice harsh.

"What difference does it make? I just need some cash, that's all!" Leo said, his voice just a harsh.

"Sorry, the answers no." Dad said.

"What? Why?" Leo asked, bewildered that dad told him no.

"You know why, Leo." I answered softly, putting my hand on his shoulder.

"Yeah, yeah... I think I do know why. You'd rather take care of your plastic toy here than your own son, eh? Tell me dad, what's it got that I don't? It's smarter? More obedient? Not like me, right? But you know what? This thing is not your son. IT'S A FUCKING MACHINE!" Leo yelled, pointing at Markus.

"Leo, stop! Markus is a great android!" I yelled at Leo.

Leo ignored me, "You don't care about anything except yourself and your goddamn paintings. You've never loved anyone. You've never loved me, Dad... You never loved me." Leo stormed out.

I looked at dad and Markus apologetically, "I'm sorry about Leo. I tried to stop him, dad. He doesnt mean what he says, he is grateful for you, Markus. Leo is just so angry and hateful when on red ice." I started to cry.

"(Y/n), don't cry," My dad said, rolling over to me. He put a hand on my arm, "Its not your fault."

I nodded, wiped my tears, and looked at Markus, "I'm grateful for you, Markus. I'm glad dad has someone to take care of him while I am working." This caused Markus' LED to turn yellow, but I wasn't suspicious about it.

Markus smiled, "I am happy to be of assistance."

I walked over to Markus' painting and observed it quickly, "So, your having doubts about your identity?" I smiled, looking at Markus.

"How did you know that was what I painted?" Markus asked, laying down his painting materials on the table.

"Spending years with this old fellow will teach you how to interpret paintings. So I'm good at interpreting things, helps with my job." I explained.

"How is your job going, (Y/n)?" Dad asked, looking up at me.

"Its going great, except I have to be paired with two partners. Lieutenant Hank Anderson and an android I know nothing about." I said, crossing my arms, "I rather be by myself, I don't have to worry about anyone else. I dont have to worry about them getting in my way or me getting in their way."

"You were always like me, dont like people too much." Dad said, chuckling.

"Yeah, I'm technically suppose to be at work right now, I should get going." I said, I hugged my dad, "Bye, dad, love you." I kissed him on his cheek and went over to Markus. I hugged him as well, and he didnt seem to know what to do. He reluctantly hugged me back, "You're like a brother to me, Markus. I love you too."

I told Markus that his was like a brother to me. Some would think that would be irrational because Markus is an android and cannot feel the same way, or that if Markus were to deviate, he could hurt my dad or me. I dont think Markus would intentionally hurt my family, not even Leo, unless Leo did something wrong. I told Markus the truth because me and him have been through some tough times together. We both seen my dad through his depression state when he lost his legs.
