I am convinced
that what you tell me isn't true
you say what I want to hear
that's fine--I play this game too
I think it scares me more
to believe what you say
because then I'll know I'm not
just a game you play
Most people would give
so much for something real
and I wonder why
something fleeting is my appeal
I thought with you
everything was distraction
no worry of commitment
nothing put in action
you play like me
careless and I see
I follow you
I look for nothing true
I thought we'd agree
there's no "you and me"
I thought you'd soon part
from my unbreakable heart
I hate to understand
that your words are not a lie
telling me these things
only make me ask "why?"
I cannot discern
what you hope to gain
if you're sure your candor
won't bring you pain
I'm sorry to say
I thought you were like me
but I think I'm somewhat more
extreme than you may be
I regret to inform you
I don't feel the same
you've been careless with others
And I won this game
