Martha's feet struggle in the sand as she pushes on, chest rising and falling rapidly from the exertion of traversing challenging terrain.
She felt it.
The break in the void, the connection.
Her sister wouldn't be stupid enough to try something so idiotic.
Which left only one other who would....Melinö.
Martha didn't want it to happen like this. The moment a connection is made, especially between two fated to be together it's only a matter of time before they start to weaken without the other nearby.
Their energy, their very essence now entwined.
What was Melinö thinking?! She knows this!
Martha hears the desperate cries of Y/N's name, urges her tiring body on. "Step away!" She calls out, pushing away the group of panicked younger men.
"What happened?" Martha asks, dropping to her knees beside Y/N.
"I was talking with her, she just froze....wouldn't respond to me and then just collapsed." Lewis breathed out, eyes filling with tears as he watched Martha lift Y/N's head to rest across her lap.
"Anything else? Did you see or hear anything else?" Martha snaps, no time to waste.
"She kept saying a name over and over, that's it though....nothing else. Is she going to be okay?" Lewis' voice wavered, hands shaking at his sides.
"What name was she saying?"
"Why is that important? I just want to know if she's going to be...."
"JUST TELL ME THE NAME?!" Martha yells.
There's a crack of thunder which follows the older woman's outburst. Lewis and his friends shrink back, eyes darting to the storm brewing.
"Taehyung, the name she kept saying was Taehyung." He finally responds, eyes back on his unconscious friend.
"I thought as much." Martha sighs, fingers running through Y/N's hair. "I need you boys to fetch help for me, can you do that?"
Lewis doesn't want to leave his friend but something tells him Martha won't appreciate his reluctance so instead he nods. "Just keep her safe, please." He pleads.
"Of course, now go....quickly!"
Another flash of lightning forks across the sky, spurring the boys into action. Lewis hesitates before following his friends, the group sprinting across the sand.
"I'm so sorry my dear girl, this wasn't supposed to happen....not yet at least." Martha soothes, eyes looking across the now turbulent ocean. "This is what happens when two fated connect, complete chaos." There isn't much time, Y/N needs to pass through the gateway and Martha is too weak to get her there. So she uses what little power she has left to call for help, allowing the words of her people to be heard.
The ocean swells, waves building as the bewitching melody dances across them. To a human they're waves, simply the ocean keeping in time with the ongoing storm but to those who possess magic.....to Martha's kind they're the airön mairo.
