‘You’re very beautiful’ He repeated.
I gazed at him weakly because I was so fed up with people trying to get my attention through compliments.
I wanted someone who could ignore just that one fact for a first rencontre, someone who could just say ‘I can sense you’re smart’ or something other than the obvious. I guess that’s too much to ask for.
‘Ok, thanks.’ I replied trying to walk away. ‘Uhm… I’ll see you later’ I added.
‘No no no, wait! Fine, I started on the wrong foot. I guess you don’t appreciate too many compliments?’
‘How did you decode that? Well I hope that’s not arrogance but I hate it when people try to get my attention through that. In fact, it upsets me’ I breathed.
'Wow, that’s rare and unusual for a lady. I duly believed that women adore compliments but hearing you right now, I’m deeply confused’.
‘Don’t get me wrong, I don’t really hate compliments but I don’t like it when people try to get my attention for the first time by throwing them at me, it makes me somewhat uncomfortable’.
‘I think I like that, it’s charming about you’
‘There you go again!’ I smiled.
‘No no no, I really mean it and I’m not bothered if you don’t believe it, it’s the truth and I won’t hide it’ he shrugged.
‘Ha-ha, stubborn. Thanks, I guess’
‘Keep guessing. So what are you up to? Why are you here?’
‘Well, I was going to assist in the studio, you know I’m still new in what concerns the media, so I have a lot to catch up on’
‘I can help you with that. I’m also going to the studio. I have some recording to do there.’
‘Hmm, that’s strange; I didn’t know you worked here. I’ve never seen your face around here’
‘Actually, I’m the guest presenter for today….
Interrupts
‘Nah nah nah, you’re not Steve Harrison, you’re not, you’re not, no no no’
Laughs hard and says in between laughter:
‘Why do you insinuate that?’ He asked still laughing
Very embarrassed I said ‘Do forgive my manners, I never knew really’’.
‘No, its ok. I noticed from the beginning of our chat’
‘Well, I only regret not recognising you from the start but other things, I do not regret. No offence.’
‘You must really be naughty, I like that’ he winked.
‘You sure do love a lot of things’ I smirked
The studio manager interrupts…..
‘You have 2 minutes!’
