A boy was born on a bright sunny day. But he never got to grow up and see his parents. His parents sadly died when Ji Shen was a baby, he often used to ask his grandfather what happened to them, but he could see the pain it caused him, so Ji Shen chose not to say anything or ask more questions as he grew older.
Ji Shen, Ji being the surname of the rulers of the kingdom he and his father stayed in and Shen meaning Spirit as his grandfather one night when the moon was fill and the stars shone a vision came to him that his grandson will be as strong as a wild spirit. Ji Shen a was an adorable baby who had big wonder eyes and a happy smile. As he grew older the poor boy was often bullied for looking too much like a girl and not looking enough like a boy. Ji Shen grew up playing with the girls since he looked so much like one and often got bullied by the boys but as he got older the boys began to like him and the girls began to either tease him for looking like a girl or just treat him like one.
His grandfather gave him a hat and veil to cover his face as a gift after hearing his grandson come home and complain all the time about how others spoke about him. Ji Shen lived in a poor village in the realm of peace, so his grandfather had to work hard to get it. Ji Shen always admired his grandfather for being so strong at such an age able to help him get the things he needed and even on occasion wanted.
Every year in June the princes of the sects travel through the kingdoms and villages to gather gifts and beauties, Ji Shen village was on the path to the Xue Luo Mountain also known as snow fall mountain. The village usually makes their way to the mountain bottom and took part of the festival. Every year when the boys of every village are old enough to, they all take part in the test. The test is often taken to see if you are able to become a part of the prince's royal guards.
