Flashing lights, a huge crowd of screaming fans, and so much love just filling my heart. That's what I saw and felt in this moment as we walked onto the stage. Lisa looked over at me and laughed. "Calm down, Chaeyoung, or rainbows might start shooting out of your eyes." She said. I nodded and giggled. It was true, I was excited. "Sorry!" I said cheerfully as we walked out. The crowd roared as soon as they saw us, and I waved, smiling. Jennie smiled at us and brought the microphone to her lips. "Hiii, BLINKS!!"
Everyone shrieked with delight, and I couldn't help but giggle. "We're so glad to be here tonight for the last night of our Kill This Love tour!" Lisa said, grinning. "I hope you guys enjoy this last concert as much as I will!" I said, and that got everyone screaming and cheering. We ran backstage and the arena went dark. Then we performed until we dropped! We did Kill This Love first (Obviously), then we did DDU-DU DDU-DU, which everyone loved. I guess we had stepped up our game for the last night, and the fans loved it. We did an intermission, and we went to the dressing rooms for a short break. Jennie and I were talking in the corner, and she suddenly took my hands.
"Um.. Rosé? I just want you to know that I'd do anything for you. Just wanted you to know." She blushed. I blushed harder, and smiled. "I'd take a bullet for you, Jennie." I said, smiling. She blushed and nodded again. After thirty minutes, the concert continued. But as we danced and sang, I couldn't help but feel something was off.
I didn't know what it was though. It nagged at me, but I tried to ignore it and keep dancing and performing. We performed Kill This Love for the second time, and then we did a song from BLACKPINK IN YOUR AREA, As If It's Your Last. Everybody loved that one, and it felt nice to get back to the classics if I'm being honest. Just for a treat, Jennie did her solo song, SOLO, and everyone was practically dying when I started backing her on the harmony, and she smiled at me. I blushed. We all knew that song by heart, honestly, and it was a lot of fun to do a duet with Jennie.
After that, we did BOOMBAYAH, and finally the last song of the night, Hope Not. That song was probably one of my favorite songs we've ever written.
Near the end, I was about to inhale to sing the last verse, when a loud pop echoed around the arena. I stopped. That sounded like a.. A.. "Gun!! Everyone out!!" I shouted without thinking, stopping my dance steps. And soon the arena was a murder house, with more gunshots firing and everyone screaming in terror, trying to escape before they were shot. Jennie and Lisa started helping everyone toward the exits, and Jisoo ran to get the security. I was the only one left on stage. I rushed down the steps and into the fray, looking for my teammates. "Jennie!!" I shouted. "Lisa!!" I saw Lisa's hand waving frantically, but I couldn't see Jennie's dark hair anywhere.
Panic flew through me. Bodies were multiplying by the second on the floor, red stains underneath them. The sight made me want to hurl. Suddenly, the crowd dissipated, and I finally saw Jennie, helping a woman toward the exit. But then I saw an equally terrifying scene: a man with a gun, probably the one who'd started this chaos, was heading for her, the barrel pointed at Jennie's back. "No!" I screamed, my legs lurching me forward.
Lisa was running too, running toward Jennie. The woman gasped, and Jennie turned around, eyes wide. And then before I knew what was happening, I threw myself in between Jennie and the man as he pulled the trigger. And then... Pain. Excruciating pain. I wanted to scream, but I'd lost my voice.
How'd that happen? My hands were covered in red. Blood? Everyone seemed so far away. I vaguely registered Jennie screaming my name, along with Lisa. Why did they sound so far away? What's happening? My legs felt like Jell-O. I stumbled back and tripped, falling onto my back. I laid there for a second, and it seemed as if the gunshots and bad men were miles away from me, just echoes in my memory.
I registered Jennie, leaning over me and a worried look on her face. I felt numb. Why did she look so upset? Oh, yeah. I just got shot. "Rosie!! Rosie!?" She cried, and I felt her hair tickle my face. "I'm tired." I said. Or at least, I THINK I said it. Can't be too sure right now. Lisa was right behind her, staring at me with an equally worried face. "You're gonna be okay, alright?" Jennie said. I tried to nod, but I couldn't move my body.
Weird. It's like I was suddenly paralyzed or something. I could hear police sirens in the distance. 'Good,' I thought. 'Help's coming.' Jennie was crying, and Lisa was pressing her jacket over my stomach. Jisoo was rocking back and forth, hugging herself tightly. Suddenly, she ran to something in the distance, and soon I was being lifted onto a stretcher.
"We'll need you three to come with us." I heard a man say. Jennie nodded weakly, and then I was carried outside. Rain was falling, and I felt it splatter my cheeks. It felt nice.
The men loaded me into an ambulance, and I saw the girls climb in next to me. "You're gonna be okay, Rosie." Lisa said. 'Yeah.' I thought. 'But for now, I need a nap.' And then I allowed myself to close my eyes and drift off.
Jennie
No, no, no, no, no. No. This can't possibly be happening. Rosé didn't just get shot by a man to save me. I barely even registered her strangled cry, "No!" Before she was flying across me, her body thrown like a ragdoll as he shot her in the stomach. Rage filled me, but before I could give this man a piece of my mind, the security rushed in and caught him, disarming him quickly.
I watched in horrible shock as Rosé stumbled and fell on her back, lying still. "Rosé!!" Lisa and I shouted, and I collapsed on my knees and kneeled next to her, my eyes assessing the damage. "Rosie!! Rosie!?" I cried, the tips of my hair brushing her face. She seemed to see me, but I couldn't tell. "I'm tired." I heard her mumble, and I nearly sobbed in relief. "You're gonna be okay, alright?" I told her.
She nodded slightly, but I could tell she couldn't really move. I started crying, and then we all heard the police sirens in the distance. Lisa was staring at Rosé with a worried expression, and Jisoo was hugging herself, rocking on her feet. Then I looked up as she ran to the doors, and a handful of paramedics rushed in. They lifted Rosé onto a stretcher, and Lisa stood up with me. "We'll need you three to come with us." A doctor said urgently, and I forced myself to nod.
Jisoo, Lisa and I shuffled into the ambulance next to Rosé, and Lisa sighed. "You're gonna be okay, Rosie." She said, and Rosé's eyes drifted toward us before they shut altogether.
I swallowed and Lisa wrapped her arm around me.
I leaned my head on her shoulder, and it seemed like a very Rosé-like thing to do.
And that's when I truly allowed myself to bury my face in my hands and cry.
