It was the first day of school and I was dreading every bit of it. However, there's not much I can do about it if I am planning on going to college in the future. I quickly got ready and headed to my kitchen to make myself some breakfast. Today I decided to have fruit and yogurt with a cup of coffee. I sat on the couch while watching the news.

I checked the date on the TV and my day became gloomy. Today was the 11 year anniversary of my parents death. I just hope today goes well. I try not to be sad or angry on this day. It's not their fault that they had to die that way.
I finished my breakfast by the time I had to start heading to school. I grabbed my bag and headed out the door an walked to the bus stop. The sky was beautiful, a few clouds scattered around the sky, the slight breeze made it the perfect temperature. Today wasn't bad at all......

I slowly got up as my alarm went off. The sun hit my eyes as I stretched and because I had a hangover it hurt a lot. I sat on the edge of my bed and lit a blunt. I looked at my arms and at my chest and could see the bruises from last night. It looks like today I'm wearing long sleeves again.

As I got ready I didn't even bother to brush my hair. I walked down the stairs only to hear my mother yell at me as I clean up her mess of whiskey bottles and broken glass as usual. It was this way every day. I always wore long sleeves due to her. It got really hot some days but I couldn't let anyone know.
"What are you doing up so early? Why are you coming out of your room? You know I don't want to see your disappointing face," She said to me.
"I know Mom, but I have to go to school," I tried not to let her heartbreaking words get to me. I couldn't look into her eyes anymore.
"You don't need school, just drop out so you can live on the streets. Then I won't have to take care of you anymore," she slurred her words.
"Yes Mom," was all I could say to her as I walked out the door and walked to school......
