"They found us"

"The treaty has been broken"

"We need to protect her" the voices got louder

"BUT HOW"

"SEND HER AWAY"

....then everything went black

"STOP IT!"

Adara woke up suddenly and found herself back in her bed. The sheets wet with her sweat.

"Hey, you ok. I heard you yell." Lacey her roommate entered her room and sat down beside her. "Same one?"

"Always is" Adara wiped her forehead with the back of her hand and got up to open a window.

"You should see a sleep doctor." Lacey stood up from the bed when she saw all the sweat that drenched her sheets

"I don't need a sleep doctor, I'm fine." Adara struggled with the window but was successful in prying it open. A cold winter breeze whooshed in sending a shiver down her spine. Adara hated the winters. That's when the dreams came. The winds breeze brought the same painfully cold feeling like from her dream.

"Fine. Is not having a full nights sleep in 3 weeks fine? Why didn't anyone fill me in?" Lacey tilted her head to the side sarcastically, trying to lighten the mood but Adara could still see the worrisome in her eyes

Adara went to Lacey and put her hands on her shoulders, " Thanks for caring, but I can't afford a sleep doctor, what with the rent, trying to buy a car, and finally having a part time job that pays well and has flexible hours, I just don't have the time to go through the whole process." She hugged Lacey and thought about how she had gotten into this mess. She had just recently gotten emancipation papers in the mail but she had no recollection of why or when she had gotten them. As quick as this thought entered her head it disappeared.

"Let me go get you fresh sheets." Lacey gave her a loving smile and when to get sheets. Lacey and Adara had started to become very close. 'How lucky am I to be able to live with my best friend.' She thought. While Lacey was getting sheets, Adara grabbed a hair tie and started to braid her long wet black hair. Everyone she met described her hair color as black as coal, maybe even darker, yet it still shined effortlessly.

"Want me to help?" Lacey stood at the door staring at Adara who had made a lopsided braid and currently had her fingers tangled in it. She giggled and undid the braid. Adara always preferred to wear her hair down. It never bothered her unless it was wet, then it would become heavy and sticky. Naturally her hair was light and flickered as though gravity had no affect on it. Once finished they changed the sheets and said their good nights.

As she lay awake staring at the ceiling she remembered something new from her dream, 'send her away'. Who was sent away, and why? All these questions ran around her head like dogs off their leashes until she dozed off.

The next morning.....

Adara's eyes flickered open to the sound of her alarm clock shrieking. She got up and took a steaming hot shower, burning even, the only kind she would take. Then put on a tight black, long-sleeved, turtle neck and some high waisted jeans that were ripped. Then she put on her favorite red leather jacket. Getting her bag she knocked on Lacey's door and when she got no answer she opened it and threw a pillow on Lacey's face, waking her up. Then she got a banana and left the apartment. Catching a bus it took her 30 min to get to her high school, Ashton Field High School, of Ashton town. It was the only high school in a 90 mile radius.

30 minutes later.....

*BRING *BRING

"No!" Adara started running, if she was late one more time to 1st period she would have after school detention and that clashed with her schedule. Running she bumped into a guy wearing a red hoodie, he had his head down.
