Rumor Has It

            "I promise i'll be quick"

'Ring ring' the sound of an alarm rang as the birds outside sang to a sweet melody. Snowflakes started falling, covering the ground, leaving no spaces left empty just like how happiness filled a girls heart.. at least for now.

"Ava, wake up"

A soft voice said, gently shaking the girls fragile body. Shocked, the young brown haired girl sat up straight on the bed.

"Mom? What's the matter ?" asked the girl worriedly as it's very rare of her mother, Agnete, to wake her up this early. "It's the day you're going to Cosmic Sans High School" her mom giggled at the sight of her puzzled daughter. Ava's heart skipped a beat.

"I'm accepted?" she asked, still not believing her ears. Her mom just smiled and nodded. Ava smiled widely as a response and hugged her mother who was just as happy as her. After a few minutes, they released the hug when Ava realised something. Her  father wasn't here to celebrate with them as he was working all day and night. Her smile faded at the thought.

"Are you okay?" asked her mother, who was confused at the sudden change in her emotions. Hearing her mother's worried tone, she quickly lied ," I'm just worried how our flower shop will run.. after all, who's going to help you while I'm away? dad's working all day and grandma needs to rest."

Ava has always been great at lying. She could be gone for hours and come up with a lie later on and nobody would question it. But there's one person who sees right through her. Her mom. She looked at her daughter in the eye and asked.

"Ava, is there something wrong? "

Ava quickly shook her head. Though her mom was still unsure, she just shrugged it off, thinking her time of the month must be starting so she responded, " Don't worry your uncle and aunt will be here to accompany me, As for your father.. he'll come back tomorrow night, I'll make sure to make him send a message for you!" Ava smiled at the thought of the her father. " alright, I gotta go dress, and I promise that it'll be quick. " Her mom rolled her eyes while chuckling. She knew that her daughter will take at least 20 minutes deciding for an outfit. " You promised though, and my definition of quick is 5 minutes. Now go," Agnete laughed while pushing her to the room. Ava looked shocked and ran to her closet quickly as she knew there's no way she'd get dressed up in 5 minutes.
