Chapter No. 126 Ascension.

The accumulation of power can be inebriating.

I was relaxing in a quite end of the swimming pool with Helen and Alexa when Alexa made a proposal that made me nervous.

"I think we should give the powers we have to Molly, Marie and Margaret."

My right eyebrow shot up. "Really?"

"We're going to need all the help we can get to defeat this Tyco."

"I gave them to you because I trust you and you've risked your life to help me. Why should I trust them?"

"Marie proved her dedication to all of us when she deliberately tried to prevent her destruction from killing us. Molly has admitted her failure as a prime mover and has reconciled with you. Margaret has not shown any evidence of being jealous or argumentative."

"Yes, you're right. I wonder how they'll deal with having god-like powers."

"Let's ask them."

We dove into the pool and swam toward the others, who were still enjoying one of the chutes. We sat along the side of the pool near where they exited the chute. When I saw them together, I waved at them and they swam over to us.

"What's going on?" Molly asked.

"We want to ask you three something."

"Did we do something wrong?" Marie asked, frowning.

"No. We want to discuss something with you."

They climbed out of the pool and sat near us.

"Maybe it would be better if we go somewhere a bit quieter than here," I said after being splashed by someone exiting the chute.

We walked over to an area that had spectator seats.

"So, what's up?" Marie asked.

"Alexa wants to give you three the same powers we have," I said.

They just stared at us for a few moments without any response. Molly was the first to comment.

"Why?"

"She thinks that we might need your help when we encounter Tyco."

She propped her fists into her hips. "So, what you're saying is that you think that you two might not be able to handle him."

"That's always a possibility. We really don't know what he's capable of."

Molly looked at Marie and Margaret before turning back to me. "We are at your service. We will do whatever you wish."

"I want you to decide on your own, not because I'm the Prime Mover."

"As I said, we'll do it," she replied.

I looked at Marie and Margaret. "Do you agree?"

They both nodded their approval.

Molly wasn't finished. "Why are you trusting us like this?"

"I am assuming that you will do the right thing."

She turned to Alexa. "You suggested this?"

"Yes," Alexa replied.

"I thought that you wanted to be in control."

"Not really. I'm not a control freak."

"I believe you. Especially after you suggested this communal swim party."

Alexa laughed, and we joined her.

After that encounter, groups of people began to break up as the evening waned.

Alexa, Marie, Molly, Margaret and I walked around the pool so that others could see us. The last thing we wanted is for them to think we were a clique. At the same time, we thought it was a good idea for them to see us together as a group. It would soon be well known that we were superheroes, so to speak.

We didn't give them the power until the next day when I was able to have them in my quarters along with Alexa so that we could discuss what they could do.

"The first thing that will occur is a morphing of your body," I told them. "Your metallic skeleton will be stronger by a factor of a thousand. Your muscles will also be enhanced, not in physical appearance, but in their power, which we estimated will be over a hundred times what they are now. I would advise you to not get carried away when you do anything physical."

"Does that mean we can run faster and jump higher?" Marie asked.

"Yes, but where it will come into use is when you engage in combat."

"Wouldn't weapons be more effective?" Margaret asked.

"Yes, but there might be a case when we can't use weapons. We're trying to prepare for unusual situations."

"After we're transformed, shouldn't we practice using our powers?" Marie asked.

"Yes. We'll go down on a planet and train."

That seemed to satisfy them, but the actual practice was not what we expected.

We teleported to the Sahara Desert on Earth. It was still a desert, but there were no humans or any other animals in it, at least not yet. I assumed that it would make a great place to practice our superpowers.

The first thing Alexa did was show us how to fly. It wasn't all that complicated. All we had to do was imagine that we had wings and simply jump up into the air. The rest was simply envisaging where we wanted to go.

We practiced flying in formation and abruptly changing direction like a flock of seagulls. Our new recruits really enjoyed the process.

"That's the most fun I've had in a very long time," Margaret said after we landed.

"I just like being on a planet," Molly said.

"Yeah," Marie said. "It's like being truly human again."

Suddenly, we looked up and saw something coming in our direction.

"What's that?" Marie asked, pointing.

"It's an alien ship," Alexa said. "Let's get airborne."

We did that just in time because the craft began firing plasma balls at us, which we were able to divert.

"We can come up from behind it," Alexa yelled. "That way we can grab it and fling it into the ground."

We followed her vertically up. The craft turned up, but we slowed, allowing it to pass. That's when we came up behind it and grabbed onto it. We worked together to fling the vessel down.

But it recovered and flew out of the atmosphere.

We immediately teleported back to our ship.

"How did that vessel get past our defenses?" I asked Judy.

"We believe it used spin drive to appear directly over Earth. It happened too quickly for us to destroy it without harming the planet."

I sighed. "All it means is that Tyco is aware of our new powers."

That was an alarming thought, but it was one that we would have to deal with.
