His footstep echoed in the empty hall of the 10th floor, their destined meeting point. Momonga do a quick search of the space for any imperfection, on the off chance that any of the NPCs are out of place due to a mistake on his part

But there was none. The Pleiades, beautiful maids that stood guard on either side of the 10th floor's entrance was still as perfectly poised as they should be. Each of them possessed their unique charm that enraptured anyone who stared at them, a testament to their respective creator's skills in facial designing

But it is Whitebrim who they have to thank for his contribution to the creation of their clothes. Their combat outfit- if one can even call a maid uniform that- are the perfect balance between practicality and looks, each tailored to their own build and job classes, yet at the same time enhancing the charms in each of their...aspects

Momonga immediately looked away from the maids

'Hentai-ish action is pretty much banned in Yggdrasil, he reminded himself. It's also a fact that his teammate Bukubukuchagama seems to take great enjoyment in when she first joined the game

He can guess as to why she would feel that way, seeing how peculiar the Seiyuu's brother can be some time with his excessive needs for, uh, "in-game fap materials"

Shaking his head, the lich avatar walked forward, placing his hand on the massive, gold-plated doors that seperated him between the outer suite and the room inside. It didn't budged on the spot even when he had leaned toward it. But that was to be expected, since this isn't exactly a normal door

As usual, said entrance has been heavily enchanted to prevent people who didn't have the Ainz Ooal Gown's ring from entering inside. Those who did so will have quite the unpleasant surprise waiting for them, courtesy of some preparation from the guild's resident prankster

The accessory on his hand glowed, before the sound of locks being latched off inside the gates could be heard. they slowly creaked open, as dramatic as their creators had wished them to be without it being too inconvenient for daily uses

However, instead of the usual glorious sight greeting him- exquisite jeweled crystals that served as lighting, hung banners of his guild-mates adorning both side of the room, and - this time he can't see a thing

Momonga raised his eyebrow at the darkness inside the room. Black mists rolled out in waves, signifying the presence of something ominous standing at the other end of this space.

'Ah, this was one of his abilities' The lich thought with mild amusement.

[Evil Shroud]. A 5th-tier AOE magic spell that provides a debuff to one's curse resistance when entering it, at the same time providing quite the amazing visual effects when cast. Most devil-type lord possess rare variants of this, which can make even players at level 40 to struggle against

Of course, it hardly have an effect on a level 100 player like him, who is immune to spells of 6th-tier and below

For a moment, he considered using [Thousand Lights] or [Illuminate] to ruin the setup just for giggle's sake, but ultimately decided against it. It's been a long time since his friend was here, letting him have his way with his theatrical antic wouldn't do any harm

With that thought in mind, Momonga walked inside, making sure not to bump into any of the pillars on the way and humiliating himself. As he trudged on, the mist seems to coiled around his dark robe, yet never once touching the lich due to his nullification passive

"Overlord Momonga. Leader of the 41 Supreme beings. The grand ruler who wield the power of Death"

In the darkness, a low, rough voice grumbled out. Yet at the same time it resounded a hint of coolness and smooth in it's undertone, resembling that of a bard's

"It is a pleasure to meet you"

In his empty apartment room, Suzuki Satoru is busy laughing his ass out at how serious his friend seems to take this

"Ulbert Alain Odle. Demon King of Great Annihilation. Master of the Dark Realm" In contrast, his in-game avatar replied in a cool and neutral voice "Likewise, I am honored by your presence in our domain today"

As the words left his mouth, the area spell was cancelled, leaving the shadowy mist to recede themselves into the corner before clearing away. Momonga watched, a smile on his face as the lights once again turned on, revealing the heteromorph sitting on the throne at the other end of the room

Legs crossed, cane held, hat tipped. Ulbert Alain Odle wore a black cloak with red embroidery that draped over his upper body, his stature and appearance the very definition of the word "classy"

"Thank you for the hospitality, my friend" The goat demon stood up from the throne, walked down the staircase until they are at eye-level and, much to Momonga's surprise and shock, bowed deeply to him

"U-Ulbert-san, what is this?" The other man stammered "Please get up, you're making me feel uncomfortable"

"I myself must first apologize for my unexpected absence. Just let it be said that some issues have been temporarily solved and now I have returned" he grunted, still not looking up. Momonga could see his friend's hands clenching into fists on his sides

Obviously, life had been quite hard for him these past few months

A guilty feeling began to creep into the lich's mind for messaging him about the game at such a critical moment in his life. But it went away when he heard the demon's next words

"I wasn't expecting much when I rejoined the game, so imagine my surprise when you are still walking around and making sure the tomb is still functioning properly, even when the other had left" The demon sighed "It just makes me feel guilty that we've basically abandoned you, you know?"

".....It doesn't matter" Momonga let out a smiley emoticon as he held him up and patted him on the shoulder "You're here, and that's all I will ask for"

"It is good to see you again, Ulbert"

"Me too, Momonga. Me too...."
