—a young agent
rain was everywhere, pooling into the dips of the asphalt streets. it was glistening against the dark, orangey sunset that reflected off the wet roads. some of the water dripped down into the cast iron street gutters. the sky was dark, the clouds were crying, the winds were howling, as if someone did them wrong. the winds grieved with the sky, with the dark clouds that littered its grayness. they were occasionally blocking the sun, casting dark shadows to the people in the city. the once small gusts of winds were only growing stronger as they blew past the unfortunate people holding umbrellas while they walked the sidewalks to hopefully get to their sheltered destination.
they couldn't tell, but the sun was beginning to set. the thick clouds were hiding the usual pink and orange hues of the sunset. the sky slowly, but surely darkened while the rain continued to mercilessly beat down on this city of souls. sure enough, the streets were finally empty of people walking the sidewalks, only a few cars drove by as the hours got later.
jeon jungkook sat in his office, another late day at work. crime never sleeps, so neither could he. he works as an agent and these days he rarely catches a break. oh how he dreamed of a break. just one. but now, even more so. there's no time for that. he had just been given command of his own unit. a position he had longed to hold since childhood. as a boy, he always held a strong sense of justice, he always had to do what's right. going head to head with crime was a perfect career for him.
this new branch was titled the "scouts." true to their name, they scouted out criminals. the city was full of dangerous minds, the scouts were to only spare their time for those that posed threats to not only their city, but perhaps even other countries. it was almost like their job was to protect the world.
and there's a criminal in particular that you would think was begging for their attention. he murdered in gruesome ways, every crime scene bloodier than the last. it was truly disturbing- no one had seen anything like it. but with every crime scene investigated, they were never closer to catching him... to catching park jimin.
jimin had been out there for the past year, causing crimes of theft, property damages, all the while his murder counts stacked up. it was like a new case was linked to park jimin every single day and because of this jungkook spends his days and sleepless nights in his office. a criminal of this stature count not even be about to breathe on the streets.
so there jungkook sat, case file in hand, eyes glued to the blue light of his computer screen. he scrolled, he read, he rubbed his head, looked thoughtfully towards the computer, but no such lucks. no leads, he had nothing.
"you're gonna need a prescription for glasses of you keep staring at the screen like that."
this time jungkook had the not so thrilling company of min yoongi; a leader of a subdivision in the scouts. he was sat in one of the extra chairs in the room while jungkook remained behind his desk, looking over the park jimin case files. there wasn't much information on the criminal to jungkook's dismay.
"we'll never get a lead on him," jungkook hung his head in his hands, while he stared at the black marble of his desktop. thunder boomed throughout the air, while flashes of lightning crackled in the dark night.
"i don't know how else to help you, the patrol is hardly working," yoongi said. he leaned back in his chair, his arms folded over his chest, while he watched the younger in his frustrations. "sending us out to patrol has done nothing but wasted our time that could've been used to collaborate with brilliant minds to catch this fiend. we still know hardly a thing about him."
"besides the fact that he loves murder... i really want to think he's playing a part in the uprising of human trafficking—"
"but we aren't sure of that, it's speculation, not fact," yoongi interrupted immediately. "as far as concrete evidence goes, we only know of the brothers: kim seokjin and kim taehyung, they for sure are running some dirty trick with trafficking."
