"Oh, Miss Caroline~" The British core called from his rail as he inched across the cieling.
Caroline, who was filing reports at her desk, looked up from her neatley stacked papers at Wheatley. She waved slowly. "Hello,"
"You wanted to speak with me?" He asked, blinking down at her.
Caroline lost herself in thought for a short moment and faultered, before nodding to him. "Yes, sorry- Come, sit,"
"I can't sit, ma'am, I'm railed to the cieling." He chuckled.
"Of course, my apologies. Really, I'm sorry, I just-"
She stared at her desk, refusing to look up at the sphere. Part of her wanted to believe that she was still talking to her human co-worker. Her friend.
"Do you remember," she began. "Well... anything, really? Do you have any memories at all?"
Wheatley just blinked at her like she was insane. "Not sure what you're talking about. Not really catching on."
"So you don't, then? You dont remember anything from before..." Wheatley shook his head. "I guess not, evidently."
"Then, what does that mean for Mr. Johnson?" She thought out loud. "Will he remember any of us? Anything at all?"
Wheatley went silent, to listen to her concerns.
"I know they said that they were working on something bigger and better for him, far more advanced than the personality cores, but I'm worried they won't have time to finish it before he-"
"Can I tell you what I think?" Wheatley interrupted as Caroline cut herself short to finally look up at him. "I think things around here are changing rapidly, and they're only going to keep changing, so why worry about it?" He seemed to shrug.
Caroline frowned slightly. "You have his attitude... Penn never worried about things like that, he always just took things one day at a time..."
Wheatley nodded. "Well, he's me, so that would make sense." He pointed out the obvious, and Caroline nodded with him.
"So your advice to me, is just... don't worry about it?"
Wheatley's eye-plate rose cheerfully. "Precisely. See? Now you've got the hang of it."
Despite her talk with Wheatley, Caroline still worried. It was just in her nature. She knew Cave wouldn't hold out much longer, and something must be done soon.
Naturally, she braought her concerns to Henry. He was the most informed and the most involved with Cave's project, so he must have had an idea of how they were progressing.
"Caroline, what a treat!" He greeted as she walked into a large, circular room. "Henry... This place looks... different." She noted. "Been working on it all week? Pretty cool, huh?"
Caroline nodded as her eyes scanned the large room. In the center, was a panel. To the side, an observation platform. At the top of the room, three huge discs rested over them, connected to the unfinished body of a massive robotic figure.
"It's insane, how much you've gotten done in the past month... May I ask why there is an incinerator, though?" She asked, eyeing the fixture to the back of the room, that the construction team was working on installing.
"Just a precautionary thing. Incase things get out of hand." Henry winked. "Of course, I don't think they will."
"And the robot..." She whispered, looking up at the dangling form. "It's huge... I thought it would be about the size of a personality sphere."
"That's just the mainframe. The databank, if you will. The personality will go into a robot much smaller, that will then be connected here, to this..." Henry paused, thinking of terms to put it in. "...robotic throne of sorts, I suppose."
He patted the body of the mainframe. "Most of the information, as well as complete control of a fully automated facility, it's all right here. Johnson's personality will go into a specialty core that we've designed for him, which is much like the others, albeit, a little more advanced."
Caroline nodded acknowledgingly as she examined the mainframe. "GLaDOS?" She annunciated slowly, reading the letters printed onto one of the large discs.
"It stands for Genetic Lifeform and Disc Operating System." Henry clarified. "That's what we're calling it for now, unless the lab boys can come up with a better name." He chuckled.
"Right." She sighed softly. "And when do you think this will be ready? For transfer, I mean." She asked him.
"You're worried we won't have time," Henry noted. "I know. I am too. But..." Caroline tilted her head. "But?"
"Don't worry your pretty little head." He smiled. "Mr Johnson has backup plans incase things go a little south."
She looked a little puzzled, but trusted him and nodded. "Alright. Just keep me updated, thank you Henry." With that, she turned and left the room, thinking about the implications of the mainframe, and the change that was to come with it.
She wasn't ready.

I sure hope everyone is safe and entertained during this cursed quarentine.
Make sure you're keeping not only yourself, but those around you (and hopefully those not around you) safe and healthy.
Even if you aren't worried about getting sick, please remember that there are many people who can't afford to get sick, and their lives could be on the line.
We all have to look out for eachother, and right now, that means being away from eachother for a little while.
Stay safe, stay happy, and wash your hands! <3

FanficChell is gone, and GLaDOS is free to live a life without any antagonistic humans trying to take her down. Though, when she is left alone in a facility with nothing but a few bots as company, a voice inside her head leads her to question whether that...
