The VOICE within

Chapter 1 - Awakening

Everyone has an inner power within, that was never touched and unleashed. It only takes one event in your life to awaken it.

At last I am in SM City Cebu now, but why does it feel like I am in Gaisano Metro Colon? I am here joining a singing contest together with my students Desiree, Allana, Little Everyl and Joyce who are competing in the kids' division. And yeah, for the adults division, I am one of the contestants. I was asking Joshua, my voice coach as to what song I should be performing. But wait, why did I not prepare for it? At first, I wanted to sing, YOU ARE MY SONG by Martin Nievera, but I felt I need to change it because I kept singing it everywhere. Yet Joshua told me to choose.

So then I chose to sing Hanggang because I can sound like the singer, Wency Cornejo. But wait, maybe I should just choose ANGELS BROUGHT ME HERE by Guy Sebastian but why do I have YOU ARE MY SONG ready in my iPod?

While waiting for my turn to sing, I saw all the marketing managers from the different big malls facilitating that event, Alexandra from Ayala, Bert from SM, Joy from Gaisano, then our Staff Bernadeth who's operating the Cashier who is representing MMPAAcademy in that project.

Then I learned that I'll be singing as the 7th contestant. Wait, what time is it now? They were supposed to start at 1230pm but it looks like they had to wait for the mall-goers to come in and started late at 5 pm. Wow, that was a long wait!

Looking at my watch and it is my turn to sing at 7pm?! What?! Then one of the organizer came and told me that the event might end late at 12mn.

Then I heard my phone alarm playing " I got the music in me" by Kiki. My head started to ache and I opened my eyes and realized I was dreaming!

" Wow that was a weird dream." Jhade said and jumped out of bed and started grabbing his towel and rushed to the bath. It is almost 10am and his class is almost starting. His phone rang and saw the pop up message coming from, " TNT Scout." And his heart started to throb fast.

He couldn't open the bathroom door without checking the message and read it. " Jhade, try the audition. It is not going to do any harm. You're just going to try anyway." He smiled and thought, " there's just too much to do." and continued to the bath but the phone rang and the screen reads, " Cindy Arcilla, calling.

So he picked it up and answered, " Hey, Julia!" he excitedly answered. Cindy is his long time friend when he was working in Pizza Hut.

"Julio!" she answered. It's my sister Jill' s wedding this weekend can you sing at the wedding during dinner time at the reception? "

Well, Jhade couldn't say no, to this simple request from a friend," Why not? Sure! But don't forget my talent fee and of course, my dinner too! And... I'm bringing three other singers with me, alright? "

Cindy laughed," of course! I can't have Julio go home without a dime."

"that's Julia! Alright see you!" he confirmed.

"It will be at the Radisson hotel, this weekend at 6pm. Alright?" she detailed.

"Ok," He Agreed and the phone dropped. He then went on to refresh ready for work.

At the MMPAAcademy, Joshua waited, " Wow, you're lucky your student is late. It's not good for a voice coach to be late. You should have just stayed in the staff house last night."

"Sorry boss." Jhade apologized as he picked up the microphone and started to get his class equipments ready to start. " It was my sister's birthday and I overslept and decided to just wait until in the morning."

Then a smiling lady of brown complexion greeted," Good morning Coach Jhade! Your student is here. Would they go in now?" Wena suggested. Her smile beaming reminded Jhade of Beyoncé 's, Love on top lyrics, " Now everybody ask me why I'm smiling out from ear to ear, but i know..."
