Prologue

Death. It's was never a intimidating thought to me.

I was the last of my kind. The nymph. A mythical creature to inhabit the forests. We run freely, controlling certain elements depending on what you were born with. Mine have always been water and Earth bending.

The down side of this is that as the humans slowly kill Earth with their pollution, we die with them, unable to preserve my home called nature. For the last seven years of my life I have been completely and utterly alone.

One thing you don't know about our species is if by the time we are seventeen and have not found the one and only love of our lives, we parish. We cease to exist. We die.

So as I lie here near the lake with my hands in the water and head on the land, on my seventeenth birthday I'm ready to face my inevitable fate of death. You would think it would be a peaceful death. It's not. It hurts like my heart and soul are slowly being repeatedly stabbed and then shattering.

So yes I, Clytie Sylvia Nadia am dying of a broken heart because of a man I never even met.
