Gabriel hummed, silver eyes bearing straight into Yuma's own, mossy ones, "Fine."
Not a moment later and Yuma found himself on his knees, fear running through every pore on his body, swallowing him whole. He could barely focus on anything other than the crippling terror tearing through him.
Whispers of another language filled his ears, and he found the little will in himself to listen to that, instead of the drumming of his own heart, "Papa, please!" Kyoya took a step forward, hand reaching out towards the man.
Yuma gasped as another wave of the too intense emotions washed over him, freezing him in place, "Kyoya..." he forced out, lips trembling, "Don't." Tears pricked at the corner of his eyes.
He won't let them fall.
"But, Yuma...!" Kyoya yelled.
He shook his head, not fighting against his father's power, "It's okay, don't worry."
"Yuma," expensive shoes clicked against the marble floor, "What do you have to say for yourself?"
He could only see the black, polished shoes of his father, "I wished to listen to... mother's language."
The expected hit came.
His head whipped to the side, the stinging in his cheek causing the already collected tears to be released, "Don't you dare mention her."
This was bad.
Never had he seen his father this enraged.
"You have no right to speak of her!" Fingers threaded through his hair and it was harshly pulled up, forcing him to look at the man's dilated pupils, "You lost that right the same day she died!"
His body convulsed, shivers running up and down his spine, "I am not at fault!" He yelled, mustering the little strength he had left.
That quirk almost drained him whole.
An amused laugh was what he got in reply. The man in front of him laughed and laughed, head bending backwards, "Not at fault?" He asked, as if talking to a little child, "What makes you think you're right?"
Yuma went silent, teeth gritting together as no words left his lips.
"Papa!" Kyoya forced out, body shaking as he went closer, "It wasn't Yuma's fault! Stop blaming him for her death!"
Yet again, a laugh was the answer, "You know... We were thrilled when we found out she got pregnant. Another kid! Another child! It was every parent's dream!" The grip on Yuma's hair lessened and he was dropped back down, side harshly clicking against the hard floor, "But then, after a few months, her health worsened."
Yuma blinked. Father had stopped his quirk.
"We went to different doctors, but they all told us the same thing; Her life would be the price of the birth. She had grown too weak, not even able to walk by herself," Gabriel stepped away from Yuma, eyes looking at everything—everything except at him, "But, as stubborn as she was, she didn't give up, she swore she was going to have you—going to bring you to this world."
Both Yuma and Kyoya were silent as their father spoke.
"And look where that got her; Six feet under, killed by the very thing she created."
Yuma clenched his eyes shut, "I didn't..." He whispered, choking up on his words.
"What? You didn't? What? You didn't kill her? What? You didn't mean to kill her?" Gabriel crouched in front of him, words void of any amusement, "But you did kill her, maybe you didn't mean to, but that will never change the fact that she's dead... She's dead because you were born."
