Chapter Sixty Six

Start from the beginning

Jax tossed Blayze the key's, but when Blayze buckled Luka into his car seat, our little man began to kick his sand shoe covered feet and cry!
Codie and I climbed into the back seat with Luka and I tried to soothe my Baby while Blayze and Jax took the front seat's.
Blayze started the Ute and Luka's cries turned into loud wail's!
"Where's your dummy, little man?"
I crooned, using my hand's to blindly search around his body in his car seat.
"Say what?"
Codie asked.
I looked across the car at him to find him sitting with a finger plugged into each of his ear's, his back pressed against the door.
"His dummy!"
I replied.
"Do you know where it went?"
Blayze and Jax twisted around in the front seat's.
"Don't reckon he's got one!"
Jax called.
I cringed.
They brought Luka for a drive and didn't bring him a dummy?
"Where's your off button, mate?"
Codie asked, shooting the little boy a sidelong glance.
Luka kicked his leg's faster and wailed louder!
"Luka!"
Blayze snapped, frowning.
With one last thump of a shoe hitting the front of the car seat and a huffing breath, followed by a sniffle, the car fell quiet, aside from the purr of the Diesel engine and the tunes of music playing from the radio.
"That's better."
Blayze declared and turned back around to drive.
"It's okay Baby."
I crooned, picking up Luka's clammy left hand to kiss the back of it.
He snatched his hand from my grasp and threw his head back against the back of his car seat to wail even louder than before and began to kick his feet against the seat again!
Blayze cranked the volume on the radio and Lee Kernaghan's "Damn Good Mates' blared from the surrounding speaker's.
Luka's face was red, but I couldn't see a single tear in the corner's of his eyes, or trickling down his tanned cheek's.
He was having a tantrum!
Blayze swung the Ute around, heading for the road.
"Luka, that's enough!"
I protested, placing my hand's over his shin's to stop the angered swinging of his leg's.
"No!"
He shouted, doing his best to thrash against the restraint's of his seat belt.
What the hell has gotten into our Kid?!
Raising my hand's in surrender, I sat back in my seat.
Guess all we could hope for, was that he either gave up, or fell asleep before the rest of us grew deaf!

I felt like my head was going to explode!
Codie still had his finger's plugged into his ear's.
I caught Jax's grimace through his reflection in the passenger side mirror.
We weren't even on the main road yet!
"Can't fucken take this!"
I snapped my gaze over to Blayze as he jerked the steering wheel to the left and pulled off the road.
I frowned.
What exactly was his plan?
If he wanted to smack Luka, I'd have to stop him, rapidly forming headache or not.
Blayze threw the Ute into neutral, yanked the hand brake on, ripped of his seatbelt, shoved the driver's side door open and jumped out of the car.
In the next moment, Jax and Codie were also leaping from the Ute.
I wanted to abandon ship as well.
But, Mum's don't get such a luxury!
I closed my eyes, inhaled a deep breath and willed myself to have the patience required for this occasion.
Suddenly, all that bombarded my ear's, was the background purr of the engine and the Sunny Cowgirl's belting out the lyric's to 'Summer'.
Opening my eyes, I turned to Luka's car seat to find him sitting placidly, his gaze going between the two front seat's.
"Daddy!"
He shouted, wriggling in his seat.
I unbuckled my seat belt, gave Luka's warm forehead a kiss and shuffled forward to kneel on the centre console and reach for the dashboard to turn down the radio.
Simultaneously, Blayze, Jax and Codie turned around to face the idling Ute.
"Daddy! Out"
Luka called, trying to slip his arm's free from his seat belt strap's.
"If you keep your voice down, they'll get back in the car and we can all head home."
I informed the Toddler, settling back into my seat beside him.
"No! Luka Daddy!"
My little man protested.
"You can talk to Daddy while we drive."
I told him.
"And have plenty of play time with him when we get home."
"Nooooooo. Luka Daddy!"
He whined, face crumpling.
Oh no...
My door suddenly swung open, an icy gust of wind filling the car.
Luka and I both turned our head's to find Blayze standing in the doorway.
"Daddy!"
Luka exclaimed, little voice as sweet as a bag of skittles.
"What's all this whingeing about?"
Blayze asked our Baby, reaching up to place his hand's on the roof of the car.
"Me out, Daddy!"
Luka told him, his smile clear in his voice.
"How 'bout you get out when we get home?"
Blayze suggested, raising a questioning brow.
"Home!"
Luka echoed.
I turned to smile at our handsome little man.
"Alright."
Blayze looked over his shoulder at Jax and Codie.
"Let's try again."
The other guy's nodded and approached the Ute.
"Daddy?"
Luka questioned.
"Yeah mate?"
Blayze asked.
Jax and Codie opened the passenger side front door and driver's side back door and climbed into the car.
"Noooooo!"
Luka protested, kicking his feet against his car seat.
"Daddy me!"
"I gotta drive, mate."
Blayze replied.
"No!"
Luka snapped, glare fierce — He might have my coloured eyes, but his frosty stare was 100% Blayze!
"Sit me!"
He demanded.
"Then who'll drive?"
Blayze asked, tipping his head to the side.
"Mummy!"
Luka declared, grinning and eyes sparkling.
"Okay."
Playing along, I shuffled toward's the edge of the seat and the doorway.
Blayze shifted to give me room to get out.
"No!"
Luka shouted, sounding alarmed.
I twisted around to raise my brow's at him.
"I thought you wanted Daddy to sit with you?"
Luka grinned.
"Daddy Me!"
I grabbed the Jesus bar, ready to climb out of the car.
"No!"
Luka exclaimed, eyes widening.
"I give up!"
Blayze exclaimed, stepping backward's and holding his hand's up in surrender.
"No Daddyyyyyyy!"
Luka whined, his face scrunching.
Stifling a frustrated groan, I turned to Luka.
"So you want Daddy and Mummy?"
I asked.
His face lit up and he grinned his gorgeous, toothy smile.
"What about me?"
Codie asked, frowning.
Not even sparing him a glance, Luka held his right hand toward's Codie in a halting gesture.
"No, Toadie!"
He protested.
Jax turned his face into his shoulder, trying to stifle his laugh!
"Rude!"
Codie huffed.
"Then who's gonna drive, if you want both Me and Mum?"
Blayze asked, raising a questioning brow.
Luka blinked.
Then he looked to the front of the car and pointed at Jax.
"Dax do!"
He exclaimed.
Guess our little man's smarter than we give him credit for...
"Okay!"
Jax answered, pushing the passenger door open and hopping out of the car.
"Where am I gonna sit, then?"
Codie asked.
Luka turned to look at him, then pointed to the driver's seat.
"There!"
I tried really hard not to laugh!
Guess we could hold off on the Harvard application's...
"But you said Jax is driving."
Blayze reminded him.
"He has to sit there to drive."
Frowning, Luka looked around the car.
Suddenly another grin lit up his face!
"Toadie sit!"
He exclaimed, pointing toward's the empty passenger seat.
"Okay."
Codie pushed the driver's side back door open and hopped out of the car.
Jax rounded the bonnet, heading for the driver's seat.
Blayze sighed.
"Let's do this."
Smiling and shaking my head, I pulled my seat belt on.
"There's something askew when the eighteen month old is calling the shot's!"
I teased.
"We're home now."
Blayze remarked as Jax and Codie settled into the front seat's.
"We'll sort him back out."
He grumbled, stepping backward's and grabbing the door to close it for me.
"Thank's Babe!"
I chirped.
"Fank's Babe!"
Luka echoed, his grin ringing in his voice.
Shaking his head, Blayze closed my door with a gentle thud and disappeared from my window.
