"Hello, Detective..." he drawled out, sticking his hand out for me to shake.
I took his hand and kindly shook it. "Detective L/N, but please call me Y/N. I'm one of the assholes that brought Anderson here, as he so kindly mentioned." He chuckled.
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Y/N. I'm Detective Collins, but call me Ben."
"A pleasure to meet you as well, Ben." I smiled, letting go of his hand. His attention then turned to Connor, staring at him for a couple of seconds.
"So..." He started; interest and surprise displayed on his face. "you got yourself an android, huh?" He turned and began walking to the entrance of the house.
Hank followed him, exhaustion heavily coating his voice as he responded, slightly looking back at Connor, "Oh, very funny. Just tell me what happened."
Connor turned to look at me, I guess waiting for instructions. I gestured my head towards the two men's direction and began to follow them, Connor tailing me.
Ben began to explain the situation. "We had a call around eight from the landlord. The tenant hadn't paid his rent for a few months, so he thought he'd drop by, see what was going on..." He walked into the house, the three of us slowly followed along. "That's when he found the body..."
To the right of the doorway at a distance sat the deceased victim, slumped against the wall. Numerous police officers occupied the space in what seemed to be the living room, and all over the house. There were lights everywhere to allow everyone to see as well as numerous evidence markers on the ground accompanied by...well, evidence. The house itself looked horrible, practically looked abandoned if it weren't for all the police and commotion happening inside and outside. Must've been the type of house that was built a long time ago, before androids were created.
From my time...
I immediately pinched my nose. "Jesus, that smell!"
Hank nodded in agreement as his face was scrunched in disgust.
"Was even worse before we opened the windows..." Ben chimed in as if it would make the smell any more bearable.
Ben walked up slowly to stand in front of the body, Hank following suit, as he continued to explain. "The victim's name is Carlos Ortiz."
[Review Evidence] or [Listen to Briefing]
Connor and I moved towards the two men as they stared at the victim, wanting to gain more information before doing our own investigation.
[Listen to Briefing]
Ben continued as he saw us approach. "He has a record for theft and aggravated assault. According to the neighbors, he was kind of a loner...Stayed inside most of the time, they hardly ever saw him."
Hank bent down to look closer at the body and spoke his thoughts. "Uh, state he's in...Wasn't worth calling everybody out in the middle of the night. Could've waited 'til morning."
I shrugged. "Well it's better to get this wrapped up now than later. But who knows? The smell might've gotten worse if we came here in the morning." I stated, continuing to slightly pinch my nose as I tried to get used to the smell. Hank shook his head and turned back to the body.
I'm never getting rid of this smell from my nose, am I.
I inwardly groaned.
Ben interfered. "Well, actually, I'd say he's been there for a good three weeks."
"Yikes." I flinched. "Well then, I agree with Anderson's previous statement. We should've left this for the morning."
Hank smirked slightly as Ben shook his head. "Yeah, well we're all here now anyway. We'll know more when the coroner gets here." I nodded.
