STUDY EARLY : begin studying a week before every quiz/test/exam. do not cram! make sure you have the information prepared, and go over it the afternoon before. if you do it during the night, you are less likely to memorize the information.
FURTHER YOUR KNOWLEDGE : watch youtube videos/ted talks on the topics you are learning about. don't just read what your professor gives you, find academic journals, books, and more that correspond with your subjects. also, when doing readings, stop every few sections to see if you are able to recall what you have read to improve learning.
SLEEP : get lots of sleep! sleep helps you process the day's events and what you have learned. a good eight hours is recommended.
WRITE YOUR NOTES : write out your notes because it is proven that handwritten notes help you learn better than typed out notes.
READ/WATCH THE NEWS : this comes in handy when learning about social sciences/humanities. you are able to connect concepts with current events which helps you understand and process the information more easily
EXERCISE : anything that gets your blood moving is considered exercise. this includes walking around for 15 minutes or so. getting your blood pumping helps you with focus.
GOOD STUDY AREA : studying at a desk is usually more beneficial than a bed. this is because your brain connects your bed with sleep which makes you become more tired easily.
UTILIZE YOUR TIME : preparing for an exam in advance is very crucial when aiming for a high grade. studying a little every day is always better than cramming last minute
EASY TO HARD : start with the questions you definitely know and then work your way to the hardest questions. don't worry about skipping around the exam. exam questions tend to be organized in a random fashion.
PREPARE YOUR OWN GUIDE : in doing so, people are usually more likely to remember what they learned. using index cards, pretty notes, sticky notes, etc., may help you remember the material when studying. make the guide as if you were giving it to someone else.
PRACTICE : practice exams are very useful. if the teacher/professor has made one, use it! if not, attempt to make your own. quizlet makes them for you if you have your terms entered in.
REWRITE YOUR NOTES : reviewing your notes and rewriting after the class or after school will help with remembering the material. write summaries for your notes at the end. writing summaries forces you to go back and read the notes to correlate a good summary.
HOMEWORK : homework is actually beneficial for you. it will help with the material that will be on the test. it is handed out for a reason. you review what you have learned, hence helping it stay with you longer.
FLASHCARDS : if you are making flashcards, it is okay to not make an entire set. only make what you need. if you know something, don't make flashcards for it. it is okay to only need 3 flashcards and it is okay to need 40. make them for the subjects you usually wouldn't. chemistry concepts are great for flashcards especially those little concepts hints that help direct what is happening in your reactions and more.
DON'T STRESS : managing your time better and not cramming will help you avoid stressing in the first place since you will already be prepared. either way, confidence is key when doing anything which includes taking tests. you may not always score a 100 which is okay. we don't always do amazing because we are human and that is okay. you can always do better next time! just take deep breaths and focus!
