Dimitri's PoV:
I jolted up, followed by a scream of pain and anger, I rubbed the tiredness out of my face and got out of bed, I slowly walked out of my room and Cassie was standing there, wearing one of my sweatpants and a tanktop, "Are you okay?" She asked, concern dripped off her Irish accent. I didn't make contact with her eyes, "I'm fine," I said, my voice cracking, she gently slipped her slim, soft fingers around my wrists and pulled me in a tight comforting hug, her warmth that I longed for since we broke up sent me over the edge, I wrapped my arms around her waist and cried in her shoulder. She hugged me tightly, "Its okay, Love," She whispered softly in my ear, her sweet Irish accent caused my heart to skip a beat. After awhile I pulled away, "Don't leave me, please," I begged, she smiled warmly, wiping a tear off my cheek with her thumb, "I'm not going to leave you, I promise," She leaned over and softly kissed me, for the first time since my mom died I smiled.
Tony's PoV:
I sat in my bar, downing yet another glass of scotch, anything to numb the pain and sorrow that floated around my heart, "Tony?" I heard a familiar Russian accent call, I didn't turn around, nor did I said anything as I poured the rest of the scotch in my glass then I tossed the empty bottle, the glass shattering echoed throughout the room. Natasha sat next to me, "You can't keep doing this," She said gently, I didn't answer, I raised my glass to take a sip but her soft warm hand grabbed my wrist, "How many have you drank?" She asked, her voice was filled with curiosity and a hint of worry. "I lost count, but not enough since the pain is still there," I finally replied, my voice sounded empty, it kinda scared me, I pulled out of her grip and gulped it down before she could stop me. She sighed, "Tony, people die, it happens all the ti-" I glared at her, cutting her off, "Pepper wasn't suppose to die, she trusted me to protect her and I failed her, do you hear me Natasha? I failed the only one that I cared about and she cared back." I said, standing up, I stumbled a bit as I made my way to get another bottle of scotch, "You are right, Tony," I stopped when she said that, I turned, swaying slightly. "W-what?" I asked, my words slurred, she stood up, "You are right about Pepper, she didn't deserve to die, not like she did, but let me tell you one thing, she wasn't the only who cared about you," With that she left. I groaned in frustration, I threw the bottle of scotch against the wall, the glass shattered, scotch dripped down the wall and onto the tile floor, leaving a small puddle. I rubbed my face and headed to my room for the night.
Dimitri's PoV:
After Cassie and I watched a movie I headed to S.H.I.E.L.D ground HQ, I walked in, wearing my firt S.H.I.E.L.D uniform, it was pure black, the S.H.I.E.L.D emblem was on my left shoulder and my wrist device was on my right arm, I had black combat boots and the Avenger emblem on my chest in a silver plating, a gun was strapped to my thigh. I didn't want one but in order for me to wear uniform I needed a gun just in case my suit didn't come fast enough, what they didnt know was that the device on my wrist was my armor, all I needed to do was to hit the green button and within seconds my armor would cover my body. I walked into the lab and turned the lights on, luckily no ones was in there, making my job easier, I walked into the center of the room and pulled up a holographic screen, I pulled up my mom's file, I clicked on the photos the day she died. I bit my lip as the picture of her lifeless body expanded in front of me, "Jarvis, can you clear the blood off her wound?" I said into my wrist, the device let me talk to Jarvis, "One moment, sir." The A.I replied, I watched as the blood slowly disappeared off her wound, "It's a stab wound," I whispered when the blood finally cleared, "Jarvis, all the weapons in S.H.I.E.L.D database, can you pull up the ones that are big enough to fit that wound?" I asked, making the screen smaller, another screen pulled up next to it, it showed three weapons, but one made me cringe. It was Loki's scepter, "Jarvis, was Loki the one who killed my mother?" I asked, my gloved fist clenched against my chest, "It could be a possibility, since the data shows the owners of the other weapons are still behind bars," Jarvis replied, "Can you trace Loki's scepter?" I asked, closing the screens, "Yes, but it will take a few moments," The british intelligences replied, "Thank you, Jarvis," I smiled, "Its apart of my program to serve you, Master Dimitri." He said warmly, "Good night," I said as I walked out, "Good night, sir," He said.
I made it home and walked into my bedroom, I stripped out of my uniform and hung it up, I placed my wrist device on the nightstand next to my bed. I changed into some sweats and crawled into bed, Cassie rolled over and laid her head on my bare chest, "About time, I need my human pillow," She mumbled, wrapping her arms around my waist and snuggled close to me, I wrapped my arms around her and soon fell into a deep sleep.
