Chapter 3

Tony’s PoV:

I walked to the training room. I saw Dimitri over by the punching bags. I walked over to him. “Are you okay?” I asked, grabbing the punching bag and keeping it steady. He glanced at me. “Yep” He punched it. I stumbled back slightly, but kept a hold of it. “Are you sure?” I asked again. He punched it. He sighed, walking over to the bench and grabbing his water. “No. I’m not,” He said, after taking a sip of his drink.

“Do you want to talk about it?” I asked, sitting on the bench. “Bane made a threat” He sat next to me. I shrugged. “He is a villain, of course he made a threat,” I said, simply.

Dimitri chuckled slightly. “Well…This one got to me” He said, resting his arms on his knees. “Well, that is the point of threats, other wise they are useless” I smirked. He put his head in his hands and groaned. “Dad, I’m serious,” He said. I sighed. “I know, I’m sorry,” I put my hand on his back. “What did Bane say?” He sat straight and I moved my hand, putting it back in my lap. “He said…That if I didn’t tell him where Kyle is…He would kill the one person that is closest to me” He looked down at his hands. “Meaning Cassie” I said. He nodded. “Dimitri, I’m sorry, but this is the cost of being an Avenger” He stood up. “Well, maybe I don’t want to be an Avenger” I stood up. “What?”

“Maybe I am not cut out for this” He shook his head. “I need time to think” He walked to the Mark 23. He got in and flew out of the window. I sighed, sitting down. “Are you okay?” I heard someone say, I glanced up. Natasha stood in the doorway, smirking slightly. “Yeah, I’m just peachy” I said. She rolled her eyes. “What happen?” She asked, leaning against the doorframe. I stood up. “Nothing, Bane got into Dim’s head and now he is thinking about quitting the Avengers” She nodded, looking around. I walked past her and she grabbed my wrist. I froze. “How are you?” She muttered. I looked at her, knowing what she meant. “I’m fine, I promise” I smiled; she nodded, sliding her hand to mine. She squeezed it then let it go. I smiled, walking to my office.

Dimitri’s PoV:

I flew through the streets of New York, I heard faint cheering under me. “Maybe being an Avenger is a bad idea,” I said to myself. I turned a sharp corner, “Help, help!” I heard someone say; I stopped and saw a house on fire. “Shit” I flew to the burning house; I landed next to the Firefighter. “What happen?” I asked, the firefighter looked at me. “There is kids trapped inside and the fire is too bad” I nodded, “Pleas help them” I heard a woman say, tears streaming down her face. I nodded, blasting toward the house, flying through the door. I looked around. The smoke is not helping, “Hello!” I called, walking forward. “Help us please!” I heard a girl say, I walked forward going up the stairs, almost falling through the steps. “I’m coming!” I said. “Hurry, please!” I made it up the stairs; I walked into a room, seeing a little girl kneeling next to a boy. “Come on” I said, grabbing the girl. “We can’t leave him!” She struggled in my arms. “He is coming too” I grabbed the boy, I blasted out of the building right before it exploded. The girl screamed into my neck. I landed next to the woman crying, I handed her the girl then laid the boy down. I felt his pulse….Nothing, I cursed under my breath. “Come on” I started pumping his chest, trying to get him to breath. “He is gone Sir” Jarvis said, Tears filled my eyes. “Damn it” I stood up. The little girl ran to the boy, trying to wake him up. She cried into his chest. I backed up, giving them some space. The firefighter grabbed my shoulder. “Thank you Iron man” I looked at him. “It’s Iron Soldier” The firefighter nodded, he backed up and I blasted off.  Heading home, I landed in front of my house; I yank my helmet off, wiping the tears off my cheeks. I walked in the door. Cassie smiled when she saw me. “Hey, Playboy” She looked at my suit. “Why are you covered in Ashes?” She got up from the table and walked over to me.

“I saved some kids from a burning building.” She nodded. “And one… Didn’t make it” I got out of the armor and hugged Cassie, She hugged back. “Oh… I’m sorry Dim” She whispered. I hugged her tighter. “Its okay Cas” She pulled back and pressed her lips softly against mine. I kissed back. She wrapped her arms around my neck. I smiled into the kiss. She pulled back, “Lets go watch a movie, I need my human pillow” I rolled my eyes then nodded, She grabbed my hand and pulled me to the couch, I laid on the couch, she put in a movie and laid in front of me, her back facing me. I wrapped my arm around her, intertwining our fingers together. I buried my face into her neck as she pushed play; I closed my eyes, slowly falling asleep.
