Kunimi was looking forward to a relaxing afternoon without volleyball practice, but when a random girl on the streets suddenly collapsed, his own plans had to wait. Reluctantly he helps her, though to the boy's disliking, she turned out to be a real...
"No, please. I just want to forget it happened and best way to do so is pretend it didn't. So, I'm going to school!"
I shook my head in disapproval, but I knew I couldn't change her mind. I sighed. "Alright, I'll ditch practice today then, so I can go home with you."
"No, you don't have to!" she said loudly. "I thought maybe I could just watch the practice and wait for you." The girl suggested.
"Are you sure? Practice can sometimes go on for quite some time." I told her.
"Yes, I'm sure! Please let me watch!"
I sighed but flashed her a tiny smile afterwards. "Alright, why not."
After school I took (Y/N) to practice with me. She sat down on the grandstand with the usual smile on her face. At first, I thought she would be bored, but every time I looked over at her, she seemed to be enjoying herself, watching closely.
When I asked her, she said she really liked watching. She thought the third-years had comedian potential too. Couldn't deny that.
So, she came with me to practice every day. I noticed she was also sometimes taking notes. It seemed like she was genuinely interested in volleyball. She wasn't alone all the time too, because sometimes when Oikawa's fangirls showed up, she chatted a little with them. I just hoped their stupid fangirl attitude wasn't contagious...
One day, we found out about that, because Oikawa went up to her.
"Hey there, beautiful. You don't need to be so shy and just watch me from afar every day. No need to be afraid of talking to me and maybe you could show me the pictures you drew of me in your notebook sometime." He flashed her a flirtatious smile, while she just visibly cringed.
"And who might you be? Are you that weird Oikawa guy?" she asked dryly while I had trouble holding in my laughter. You could literally see her words pierce through him like arrows. That must've really hurt his ego.
"S-so you're not here to see me?" Oikawa asked, the humiliation evident in his tone.
"No, I'm here to wait for Kunimi. And also, I haven't been drawing you, I took notes on the matches." She answered. I felt some of my teammates looking at me. I guess they never knew she was waiting for me, except for Kindaichi. He knew I was friends with (Y/N).
"Hey, Kunimi. Is she your girlfriend?" Yahaba whispered to me.
"Um, no..." I answered truthfully as the second year's face brightened up. I guess he was getting his hopes up. His expression made me want to punch him for some reason.
Iwaizumi butted into Oikawa and (Y/N)'s conversation. "You are interested in volleyball?" he asked.
"Yeah, that's what I just said." She answered, not knowing why that was so surprising.
"Sorry, it's just really rare to find someone who isn't just here to see Shittykawa. Would you be interested in becoming the team's manager?" the ace asked her. Right, why didn't I ever think of that before?!
(Y/N) looked at me, searching eye contact as if asking for my approval. I gave her a nod and her face lit up. It's funny how she always asks for my opinion.
"Yeah, I'd be interested." She answered Iwaizumi. He smiled and told her to follow him as they were going to talk to the coach. She beamed with happiness the whole time. I loved to see her happy.
"Why didn't you tell me you were so interested in volleyball?" I asked her on the way home.
"I didn't realize how much I like it myself. It was just something you love, so I liked it too I guess." She chuckled with a slight red tint on her cheeks. I felt that red tint also creeping onto my face. Why is she suddenly so cute? Well, I never thought she wasn't cute, but why is that standing out to me so much just now?
"What will I have to do as a manager?" She asked me excitedly.
"Well...I think you watch the players and tell them what to improve and you help developing strategies. And also, that normal stuff like handing out water bottles or something." I shrugged.
"Oh god. I hope it won't be a problem that I suck at sports..." she stared into space in panic.
"You're worrying to much again. You're going to be fine."
Her body suddenly stiffened up. Did I say something wrong? She walked closer to me and I felt her hand snaking itself into mine. But this wasn't like one of these romantical movies where the characters start holding hands. (Y/N) seemed afraid of something. She was shaking.
I looked at her. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"Please don't say that sentence ever again..." she mumbled quietly. Had this something to do with the time she was attacked? I tightened my hand around hers. "Okay, I won't." I reassured her.
After a brief silence I spoke up again. "(Y/N), did you ever see a doctor after what happened?"
She looked at her feet. "...no..." she admitted.
"You should... I'm no doctor and self diagnosing is bad but...you might be developing a PTSD..."
"...I know..." she tightened the grip around my hand as well.
I wanted to get her mind off of it again. "Hey, look at the sky. You can see the stars tonight."
She looked up. "You're right! No clouds in the way tonight!" She watched the sight in awe as I noticed she was smiling again. That made me smile a little too. The stars reflected in her (E/C) eyes. (Y/N) is beautiful...
We kept walking in a comfortable silence, enjoying the sight while our hands were still connected. Once we got to her front porch, I let go of her hand, but she hesitated to go inside. She turned to me again.
"I-I-" she stammered out in a nervous yet calm tone, though I noticed she was blushing and fidgeted with her fingers. "Thank you for everything, Kunimi!" she said before embracing me into a hug. Before I could even react, she let go and turned to leave again, but I didn't let her. I reached for her hand and pulled her back to my chest. Why'd I do that? I don't know. My body just acted on its own.
I stared deep into her eyes while she looked at me surprised. She blushed even more, it made me smirk a little.
I cupped her cheek with my hand and brought my face closer to hers. So close, our noses were touching. We stared into each other's eyes for what seemed like an eternity, but we both knew what was going to happen next.
I felt the hesitance and nervousness in between us. Our lips hovered inches from each other's before barely brushing. I closed my eyes and pressed my lips softly onto hers. The sensation ignited my entire body. When I felt her kiss back, my heart skipped a beat. We pulled away from the kiss before staring at each other in silence again.
