THE LOST BOY

Once upon a time, there was a lost boy that feels lost in the middle of nowhere. The boy always feels that his journey was a fruitless one. The boy feels that he has no choice but to continue walking even though he is alone.

One day, while walking, the boy heard a voice. The voice asked, "Where are you headed?". The boy told the voice that he doesn't know and he can't see his destination because the road was dark. "Really?", the voice replied, "alright, I decided. I'll go with you until you arrive wherever you may be headed". The boy felt happy that he is not alone anymore. And so he continued to walk. Days turned to weeks, the boy could not hear the voice anymore. "Maybe, the voice already arrive at his destination? I wonder why he didn't tell me he was leaving.", the boy said. The boy shrugged and told himself that he is fine alone. And so the boy continued walking.

As days pass, the boy heard another voice. The voice asked, "Where are you headed?". The boy replied the same way he replied to the first voice. He said that he doesn't know and he can't see his destination because the road was dark. "Really?", the voice said sounding confused, "alright, I decided. I will go with you until you arrive wherever you may be headed." The boy remembered the first voice and felt reluctant. Eventually, the boy agreed, thinking that maybe, unlike the first voice, the second voice will not leave his side. And so, the boy, together with the second voice, continued walking.  Days turned to weeks, the boy could not hear the voice anymore. The boy felt angry at himself for believing that he is not alone because the voice is by his side. And so the boy decided that he will never allow anyone by his side anymore because he knows that they will eventually leave. And so, with that conviction inside his heart, the boy continued walking.

As the boy walked, he heard multiple voices but he ignored them all. The boy continued telling himself that he is fine alone as he walked once more. Eventually, the boy got tired of walking and felt despair. And so he whispered, "I am tired. I am alone. I don't want to be alone anymore and I still can't see where I am headed because this road is so dark." As tears fell down from the boy's eyes, he heard a voice that said, "You are not alone. We are here." The boy recognized the voice and felt surprised. He asked the voice, "where were you? I thought you left me." The voice replied with a sound full of kindness, "I am always by your side. I never left. Even the ones we encountered on this journey is still here." The boy was confused and accused the voice of lying to him. He said, "If you said you never left, why can't I see you?". The boy replied mischievously, "Because your eyes are closed! Try opening your eyes and see the wonders of the world." The boy was confused again but the voice didn't sound like it was lying. And so, the boy trusted the voice and tried to open his eyes. Surprised, the boy's eyes opened and saw that it was not dark anymore. He can now see all the faces of the voices. He realized the voice was, indeed, not lying when it said that they never left. The boy cried in joy because the road that felt so long and tiring just became much more fun. He can now see that there are multiple roads ahead of him. And so, while continuing to wonder the sight he sees, the boy, together with the countless of people that is beside him, continued walking. But this time around, the boy felt hopeful and excited for where his journey is headed, as well as the new voices that he will encounter along the way.
