"You forgot to lock the cage, Darling."
He turned to see his wife, long fingers pointing to a metal door at the far end of the corridor.
"And?" he sighed. "Honey, I'm tired. Can we please not argue about this?"
His wife narrowed her eyes with an obvious horror and disgust. "You refused to lock the werewolf's cage and told me to not argue? That filthy creature is dangerous! I don't want to find that monster marching in my hallway, hurting my kids."
He gritted his teeth. "He's not a monster. He's just a child, like Abel and Carla. Besides, he was chained, thanks to you. What could he possibly do, even if I didn't lock the cage?" He snapped.
Her eyes widen. "What's up with you, comparing that monster with my babies? I don't need any excuse, darling, just lock the cage. I'll be waiting upstairs" Her blue eyes locked with his grey ones, hypnotizing him.
He sighed in defeat, and, with heavy steps, went to the underground chamber. He stopped in front of the metal bar of the cage, the door closed but unlocked. Behind the bars, a pair of amber eyes watching him.
"I'm so sorry," he mumbled, closing his eyes. "I don't want to, but you know her. I can't resist her charm."
He heard a soft laugh, chain rattling. "Charm? It's not a charm. It's her poison, hypnotizing you. But it's okay, I'm used to this. Besides, when my choice is this or to be hunted, what else can I do? At least you're kind enough to afford my needs," a gentle voice said behind the bars. Soft and warm, obviously belongs to a teenage boy.
He opened his eyes, and saw the boy's face. Pale skin decorated with bruises, fangs shown from his smile, his brown hair messy yet fluffy. A metal collar at his neck connected with a heavy chain to the wall. Despite his condition, his amber eyes gleaming joyfully. "Go on, your wife is waiting. You don't want her to be angry, don't you?"
The man grimaced, and pulled a key from his pocket with shaking hand. He locked the door. "I'm so sorry, Matthew. When the time is right, I'll set you free. Promise."
The boy smiled. "Thank you, but don't let me be a burden to you." The man smiled sadly. "I love you, Matthew," he said, turning and walked to the stair, outside the underground chamber.
Matthew watch his back from behind the metal bars, feeling lonely. He sighed. "I love you too, Father."
