The two young boys laughed and they chased each other around the playground. Their two mothers watched, laughing as well, as they talked. The smaller greenette giggled as he turned and ran from the slightly bigger ash blonde. After almost two more hours of playing the two, now exhausted, boys ran back to their mothers and were taken home.

Katsuki got home and was greeted by his more tame and friendly father. As they ate they laughed and talked, watched a little tv and played a few games. His father helped him with his reading as he was aiming to impress Izuku with his ability to read at the level above their year group. His father ruffled his head whenever he got too frustrated and praised him when he got words, phrases or sentences correct and help when he got them wrong. They never let a sour mood come in, even when Mitsuki had to drag Katsuki to bed.

Izuku went into his room after his heavily regulated dinner was completely eaten and sent to his room to study. Dinner had been silent and still as it normally was in the Midoriya household. Izuku honestly couldn't wait for his dad to go back to America for his job so that Izuku could go back to eating whatever his mother prepared and to watch tv shows and movies with his mum and Katsuki. Izuku sat at his desk and began reading a book at least two levels above his year group. After a few minutes of reading, he started to hear yelling and fighting. He immediately covered his ears as tears started to sting his eyes and he felt his throat tighten. He hates hearing people argue.
The shouting stopped... Izuku doesn't know since when but when he realised he went back to reading. His father walked in and observed him reading. After a little while his father, Hisashi, picked up the book. "How do you spell contrary?" Hisashi demanded
"C-O-N-T-R-A-R-Y" Izuku recited.
"Surprise"
"S-U-R-P-R-I-S-E"
"Immediate"
"I-M-M-E-D-I-A-T-E"
"Discipline?"
"D-I-S-C-I-P-L-I-N-E"
"Honesty"
"H-O-N-E-S-T-Y"
"Authority"
"O-T-H-O-R-I-T-Y"
The book was snapped shut, which startled the small boy already but he shook more when he realised his mistake.
"D-dad I... I meant to sa-"
"Not dad. Father."
"F-Father... I meant to say A-U instead of O... I'm sorry, please forgive me," he muttered as he began to back away from his father, who was stalking towards him.
*slap* rang through the room. Izuku was on the floor clutching his face, tears in his eyes, feeling white-hot fire on his face. Hisashi left the room without another word. Izuku placed his free hand over the other, clutched both hands and sobbed into the ground.
'Why won't dad just leave already?'
Izuku got ready and was in bed before Hisashi came back and turned off the lights. Izuku fell asleep after some struggle as he still felt his cheek stinging from the strike.

The two boys met up in their kindergarten class and immediately started to play again. They learnt and talked and did whatever they could in the company of each other. At the end of the day when they were being taken away by their parents, Katsuki stuck out his pinky to Izuku and smiled. "Let's make a promise!" he yelled
"What promise?" Izuku asked as he tilted his head, his fluffy hair following suit
"That we will be friends forever." Katsuki triumphantly declared
"Ok! Yakusoku!" Izuku laughed
"Yakusoku!"
"Friends forever!" they both chanted

Katsuki is still an angry ball of anger but mostly to other people, and he didn't give Izuku the nickname of Deku... you will find who did later... Katsuki definitely mellowed out over the years in this AU it's just his anger isn't targeted at Izuku.
