Rosepetal pads into ThunderClan's camp after arriving from the dawn patrol, her apprentice, Fernpaw, by her side. Then, she spots him.

The bulky, big very pale gray tom with black stripes was crouching to the ground, sharing a sparrow with his sister, Blossomfall. Bumblestripe as always been a cat she had her eyes on. Previously, she had a crush on a tom named Foxleap, but she soon got over her former crush after thinking about how closely related they actually are. However, Bumblestripe has half-kittypet blood, so it is much less likely for Rosepetal to be closely related to him. Plus, Rosepetal's mother, Daisy, was a former loner, which decreases the odds even more in her eyes.

She pads over to her friend confidently, knowing for sure that the tom would say yes to her confession. Blossomfall is quick to notice her. The tortoiseshell-and-white she-cat gives Rosepetal a little encouraging smirk, knowing exactly was about to go down.

Blossomfall was one of the first cats Rosepetal told about her crush on Bumblestripe. Ever since he and Dovewing split apart, Blossomfall has been encouraging her to confess her feelings for her brother, claiming that a she-cat like Rosepetal was exactly what Bumblestripe needed. She also made sure to put in some good words about Rosepetal to him, which makes Rosepetal convinced that the tom would accept her love for him.

"I'm done eating now," Blossomfall is quick to meow, pushing the rest of the sparrow towards her brother with her paw. "I have to go train Hollypaw now, see you later," she meows, giving her brother a quick nuzzle before hurrying over towards her apprentice, who had just exited the apprentices' den. Then, the tom and she-cat were alone.

"Hey, Bumblestripe," Rosepetal meows. "Can I speak to you alone for a second?"

"Sure, what is it?" Bumblestripe is quick to respond, too focused on eating the sparrow to even look up at Rosepetal.

"Bumblestripe, I..." Rosepetal begins to say, then lets out a sigh. "I really like you. Not as just a friend, but as something more," she admits, looking away from him nervously. "I've been in love with you for moons now, and I believe that you and I will be the best couple in ThunderClan!" She purrs. "So, Bumblestripe, will you be my mate?"

Bumblestripe finally looks up at Rosepetal, not with a look of love, but with a look of shock and uncertainty. He is silent for a few seconds, then, he finally figures out what to say.

"I'm sorry, Rosepetal, but..." Bumblestripe meows with a pause. "I'm still in love with Dovewing. I'm sorry."

"Oh..." Rosepetal meows with disappointment, masking the feeling that her heart is shattering into millions of pieces. "That's fine," she lies, unable to make eye contact with the tom due to embarrassment and disappointment. "Well, I'm going to leave now... Fernpaw is probably waiting for me..." She meows, finding an excuse to leave the situation. "See you later!" She exclaims and quickly hurries off, finding a way to escape the predicament.

So, what now? Am I ever going to get a mate? She thinks with disappointment as she heads over to the apprentices' den to wake up a Fernpaw.
