A Ray of Sunshine

The sun has come to spite me. Angling itself through the high windows of the computer lab, it bounces off of the newly polished metal pole and flashes its golden-hour rays directly into my left iris.

I hiss, despite myself, and win the perplexed stares of the other students studying nearby at various tables and couches.

"Sorry, light got in my eyes," I mumble by way of apology.

I take out my pocket-sized bottle of SPF 100 sunscreen and rub it on my cheek where the rays burned my skin. Nightfall cannot come fast enough for this overworked college vampire.
