I.A.I. 8 - NO ANSWERS

I'M AN INTROVERT, and today seems to be nice since I haven't put myself into something embarrassing.

It had been a complete three weeks that I successfully avoided any interactions with my classmates. Last week, the teachers had nothing for us to do because all they gave us was discussions about a certain subject.

I remain eating my lunch inside our classroom since then without anyone knowing. It's kind of prohibited. Seems like I'm not completely a good student after all, but compare to any other students, I'm pretty sure I'm not so bad.

My seatmate, Bettina, she's being bullied by the guy named Brandon. He's one of our classmates. As much as I want to feel bad for Bettina's situation being picked by Brandon, I can't. I felt relief, it's not me.

Gosh, I'm so bad.

Zion? Well, we haven't talk since he brought me to the clinic. It's not like I care about him either way. Just like me, he always remain quiet.

"Okay, class dismissed." After our teacher says that, the bell rings.

My classmates immediately raises from their seats like zombies.

"Fuck off, Bran!" I heard Bettina cursed.

"Oh, c'mon Betty! One lunch with me won't hurt!" Brandon whined while he pushes through the crowd, reaching over Bettina.

"Leave me alone! Ugh!" Bettina groans as she quickly pick up her things then ran for the exit.

"Betty baby!" Brandon called her name loudly, my ears ringing.

Seems like I got the wrong term about Brandon bullying Bettina. I think Brandon is actually hitting on her.

I was pulled out of my reverie when I felt someone grabbed me by the elbow.

My instinct became suddenly defensive and pushes away whoever dared to cross my personal space.

I heard a loud thud on the floor.

"Ouch! Shrinking flower! What was that for?" It's Zion.

My eyes widened in surprise.

"Oh! I'm so sorry! I didn't know..." I helped him stand up.

His grip on my hand was a bit tight but not enough for me to feel hurt. However, I still feel awkward.

Somehow, I can't avoid to be attracted to him. I mean, who wouldn't be? Zion was beyond handsome. Especially his appeal. He's like the cool kind of guy.

But then, just attracted. I  just appreciate his good looks, nothing more.

"Sorry..." I apologised.

He gave me a small smile, "na-uh! You should eat lunch with me as an apology." Zion smirks.

My body stiffens.

How am I suppose to turn down an offer?

"Uh... I... Um." I gulped.

"Sorry Zion, she's eating with me." I heard a soft voice behind Zion.

It's Stella.

My saviour!

Zion frowned then shrugs, "I'll just collect the apology some other time then." He continue to stare at me for a while before exiting out classroom.

I sighed.

"You look so tense, honey." Stella chuckled.

I smiled at her shyly, "thank you."

Stella just shook her head.

My eyebrows furrowed.

"You will have lunch with me, Iris. I won't take no for an answer. Now, move your bootie and  let's go to the cafeteria." Stella grinned at me.

Just like Zion, Stella seems to shine bright and very eye catching because of their good looks.

I can feel eyes watching us, no, scratch that, watching her stride as we look for a vacant table.

It's a good thing that she already got food earlier. She didn't even have to wait in line, instead, the boys made her order first.

Well, that's one benefit for being beautiful.

But I prefer not to. It's not like I will be anyway. It catches too much attention. And I hate it. It makes me self conscious and uncomfortable.

"I've been eyeing you for a while now, Iris." Stella began.

I was quite taken aback by her bluntness.

"E-Eyeing?" I asked.

She nodded happily like a child.

That made me frown.

"Why?" Now I'm curious.

"I don't know. You're just so close." She took a spoonful of her salad.

Salad for lunch?

I bit my lower lip, not knowing what to say.

"It's like you're an undiscovered book that makes me want to open and read." She was even making hand gestures while explaining.

My jaw drops.

What did I do, to be notice by a stunning goddess? Compare to her, I look boring.

"There's nothing interesting in me." I looked away.

Gosh, I'm actually able to speak a whole sentence!

"You are. I don't know what, not yet." Her eyes were intently staring at me.

May god have mercy on me! Please make her stop staring at me like that.

"Do you mind if we eat together every lunch from now on?" Stella smiled genuinely.

What?! Why would she want me sticking to her? I'm like, nobody.

"Well..."

She beamed at me, "I'm not taking no for an answer."

And that's how my plan of becoming invisible for the whole school year ruined as an Introvert.
