Chapter Six: The Make Up and a Party

I wake up to the scent of pancakes and bacon. I yawn before sliding out of bed and walking into the kitchen.

Dani is standing at the stove and humming to a country song on the stereo. "Hey," I say when she spots me.

"Hey," She moves the pan to another burner to keep the food from burning and walks over, pulling me into a tight hug. "I'm so sorry, Tess. I know I can be overbearing sometimes, but I really just want what's best for you, you know? I'll let up, okay?"

I smile and ruffle her hair. "It's ok, I'm sorry too. I over reacted and you know, you're right. I do always run away from my problems. I guess I got that from my dad." I roll my eyes. "I'll work on it, I promise."

"Anyway, I made you breakfast to show how sorry I am. Do you forgive me?" She asks.

"Of course I forgive you, brat." I laugh

"Nerd," She responds. "By the way, I was talking to one of my friends last night, and there's gonna be a party tonight at Colin Grey's house."

I give her a blank look. "And?"

"And we're going!" She yells.

"You're going," I laugh. "I'm staying right here."

"How about just try it out, and if you decide you really hate it, we can come home?" She asks. "I won't go without you and I really wanna go."

"Ugh," I sigh. "Oh ok."

She squeals in excitement.

"But the second I've had enough, we come home. Deal?" I put my hand out.

"Deal," She shakes it. "I'm so excited!"

"Yeah, yeah. Let's eat." I grumble.

We eat our breakfast and watch some television for a while before Dani speaks up.

"We should pick out our outfits for tonight. You can borrow something of mine because I know for a fact that you don't own one party outfit. Not a single one." She laughs.

"Yeah, you're probably right." I agree. "Let's go look."

We walk to Dani's room and raid her closet. Soon enough, there are clothes strewn everywhere. She already has her outfit picked out. A tight burgundy strapless dress that has a sweetheart neckline and reaches her mid thigh. She has a pair of nude heels to go along with it.

On the bed, there are three different outfits for me to choose from. One outfit is similar to hers, but the dress is black with a pair of black heels to go with it. I'm not feeling that one. It gives me funeral vibes, especially with my black hair and fair skin.

The second outfit is a mint green dress that's tight at the top and flares out at the waste. There's a pair of nude heels to go with it. I really like that one.

The third outfit is a stormy blue lace dress with an X back. I would be wearing it with silver heels. It's perfect.

"That one." I point to the third dress.

"I knew you'd pick that one." Dani giggles. "I'm doing your hair and make up!"

I laugh "whatever makes you happy."

"Oh it will!" She says. "For now, lets get our showers and paint our nails. We're going all out! You never know when you could meet your future husband."

I shake my head. "You and your men."

"What?" She feigns innocence. "They're cute."

I laugh at her before heading out to take my shower.
