I hummed as he kissed my pout and cheek.

"Let's go inside, you're not dressed for this weather"

"I can wear fitted sweaters now" I stated as we made our way to the front door.

Once we were inside, I got a look at his outfit.

"You're not dressed for the weather either," I said as we walked down the hallway and into the living room.

"I have an outfit in the car"

"So you worked out today?" I asked.

He nodded.

"Yeah, I couldn't sleep so I figured I'd join CT"

"Do you want anything to drink?" I asked.

"I could get it"

"Did you eat already?" I questioned.

"Yeah"

"Well I haven't so I'm going to make me a waffle," I said.

"I can do that if you want"

"I got it," I said as I led him to the kitchen.

On the kitchen counter was the flower arrangement that I had received yesterday.

"Do you want a waffle?" I wondered.

I got no response, so I turned to Gavin to see him looking said arrangement.

"Gavin" I called out.

He looked away from the arrangement.

"Waffle?" I asked.

"Uh, sure"

He sneezed.

"Yeah, TK went a little overboard with the arrangement" I noted.

He looked at me.

"Can you place it in the dining room table?" I wondered.

It was the flower lilies that were in the arrangement.

"Okay"

"Careful with the lilies" I warned.

As he picked up the arrangement, the notecard I did not open last night, fell out on the table. While he did that, I heated up the waffle maker.

"So it looks like I may have a new pairs partner" I disclosed to Gavin once he was back.

I stepped away from the waffle maker for a second.

"Why's that?"

"TK, Claudia's brother came over last night" I started.

His jaw tightened as he took a seat.

"He told me that apparently Theo's been blabbing his mouth about the idea of quitting figure skating" I explained.

Gavin's eyebrows furrowed as he looked at me.

"Wait, what?"

I nodded and glanced at the waffle-maker.

"How exactly would that work, if you changed your partner?"

"There's a period of reconciling, and while that occurs the new partnership begins to train unofficially" I replied.

I made my way back to the waffle maker and peeled the freshly made waffle off and poured mix before closing it once more.

"So how long is this reconciliation period?"

"About a month," I said.

"Where exactly is your brother?"

Not here.

"He said he'd come home tonight, but I honestly don't think he's coming home until December" I answered.

I looked at him as he raised an eyebrow.

"Why do you think that?"

"Just a feeling" I responded.

I shrugged and made my way back.

"You never called me back"

There it is.

"I'm sorry, I forgot" I answered.

He bit his lip.

"We took our family photo after, and then Josie's boyfriend got here" I said.

"The paramedic?"

I nodded my head.

"Have you met him?" I wondered.

"Briefly, I showed up to my meeting with her a couple of minutes early and even though I knocked I interrupted their lunch date"

I see.

"He is very into her"

Yes, he was.

"Does it bother you that someone got me flowers?" I asked.

He sighed and scratched his jaw.

"It's just, everyone in your family thought that arrangement was from me"

Right.

"And then I hear a super deep voice greet you, and I see the biggest smile form on your face"

Oh.

"Gavin, he's harmless," I said.

He raised an eyebrow.

"Is he?"

"Yeah" I answered.

I stood up to get the second waffle and poured the rest of the mix.

"I can assure you that I am not TK's type" I stated.

I grabbed two cups and made my way over to Gavin.

"He likes them tall" I noted.

Something I was not.

"And male" I revealed.

Again..something I was not.

"Oh"

"I'm sure you two would have gotten along, but he had to head back to Boston," I said.

"He goes to school there?"

I nodded.

"He plays Ice Hockey for BU" I replied.

"That's a Division I school"

Correct.

"Is he out?"

I nodded

"Does he plan on playing professionally?"

I shook my head.

"Cause he's gay?"

"That is a reason" I noted.

"If he can play, who fucking cares?"

"Fans and people, in general, are just mean" I stated.

"That's true"

"He's always put his mental health first" I said.

"That's good"

"When he's in town, I'd like for you to meet him" I told him.

I glanced at Gavin to see a small smile on his face.

"That would be cool"

"Maybe you can be around when I meet Lorenzo as well" I added.

"I don't want to intrude with that"

"You will never intrude," I told him.

"That's something you need to do on your own, you know to make sure the possibility of a partnership would be genuine"

I guess.

"I'll get the water pitcher"

As he did that, I reached for my phone that had been left on the countertop. I had a text from Theo,

Not going home. Let mom know? see you Tuesday.
