"I'm so stupid..."
"No, you're not, Ethan.." You said as you stroke his back. "You're gonna be just fine. You're a good man."
Ethan rested his head on your chest. "You always have the right words to say... I was horrible to you in the past, and you're still holding me without hesitation." He looked straight into your eyes. "Why are you so perfect, (Y/N)?"
"I'm not." You said.
"To me, you are." A tear stroke down his cheek as he held your hand. "Mom was right.. You're the only good thing that happened to me. I-I love you so much..!" He cried again. "Please come back to me, (Y/N)... I can't stand living a life without you. You're my guardian angel... If.. If the Red Ice is the problem, I promise I won't do it again! "
"Ethan, listen..."
"I'll do therapy, go to the psychiatrist, I'll go to church if you want ... But please ... come back to me!" He begged. And for a moment you thought he was being serious.
You stayed quiet. The young man slowly approached his face and kissed you. He pulled you by the neck passionately... But you could feel something different coming from him-- A sort of fear. You layed your hands on his shoulders the moment he tried to feel your breast, and pulled him away.
"Whoa, whoa... I'm sorry. I can't do this." You said.
"W-Why?" He furrowed his eyebrows. Then he had some kind of realization. "You don't like me, do you?"
"It's not like that.."
"Of course it is!" Ethan snapped as he stood up. "Is it because of that stupid android?!"
"What??"
He snorted loudly. "Do you like him?"
"What--"
"DO YOU?!" The young man grabbed your wrists and pressed you against the wall. You remained silent, without an answer. "You DO!!"
"Ethan, what the fuck!" You tried to get off of his grip effortlessly.
"I won't let that thing get between us, I promise!" He barked. "I knew something was wrong the moment I saw you together!--"
You managed to make him let go of you by kicking his groin. Ethan knelt down in pain. You quickly headed to the door to leave.
"Get fucked, Ethan." You growled before shutting the door. "You deserve this shitty life you have!"
Your thoughts were interrupted by the bell ringing. You put your laptop and coffee aside, and walked towards the door to see who it was. Connor, obviously.
The android glared at you with that innocent look of his. His clothes were totally different from the usual, if it wasn't for his LED he'd look more human. His hair was sprinkled with cold snow. "Hi." He simply said.
"It's you..." You said.
"May I come in?" He asked.
You let him in. "I wasn't expecting you to come today."
"I'm just passing by." He said. " I went to Hank's house before coming here, to check things out before ... going to Jericho, you know?"
"Very considerate of you." You said.
"Hank lent me some of his old clothes so I could blend in with the deviants." Connor commented.
"I noticed." You said. "But you need something to cover that up." You pointed at the LED on his temple.
You opened the small desk drawer near the sofa, and from there you pulled out a beanie.
"Here you go." You handed him the head accessory.
"Thanks." Connor put your beanie on his head "How do I look?"
"Like a deviant."
"I'll give it back to you as soon as I can." He said.
"No need to." You said. "Keep it as a gift."
He tilted his head. "..For real?"
"It's yours now."
"Well... Thank you. I really appreciate it."
"You're welcome." You said. Connor sighed, he looked a bit off at the moment. "Is everything alright..?"
"Yes, it is." Connor was sincere. "I'm just a bit... pensive. Don't know what's gonna happen next.. and that concerns me."
"You worked hard to get here. Whatever you have to do... just do it. I know you're self-sufficient enough to complete this mission of yours." You advised.
"That's not all that worries me..." He said.
"Then what is it?"
"I've been thinking about what happened at DUAT," The android said. "about what I did to you. I hurt your feelings... didn't I?" You folded your arms, nothing was said. "I just want you to know that I am deeply sorry for what I did..."
"Y'know, Connor... I hurt myself, not you." You started. "I think I was just so overwhelmed for having someone like you around, that.. I blinded myself from reality. Very dumb of me to think you were different."
Connor's countenance showed that he wasn't much relieved by your answer. "I really hope you can forgive me one day, (Y/N)... I don't wanna lose my bond with you." The android briefly glared at the door. "I must go. Goodbye."
You stood still, thoughtful. Connor opened the door, ready to leave and confront his greatest enemy. Something inside you was asking him not to leave. You wondered: Is this the last time I'll see him? You snapped, and grabbed his right arm. "Connor, wait."
The android turned his face to you.
You thought about saying several things, but nothing seemed to make sense. "Just... don't do anything stupid. Okay?"
He slowly nodded. "I won't. Goodbye, (Y/N)."
You let him go. "Good luck."
The android seemed to express deep regret, which left your house wondering when you would finally accept his forgiveness. What you feel for Connor was, in fact, very confusing. But deep down you hoped he'd come back soon, and alive.
~~~~~~~
hope it was a good chapter (even if it's short tho)
but the next one will focus totally on Connor's point of view, and the end of the journey is one step closer
Will the android follow its initials protocols, or will it follow something more than that?
