Gavin
Senior year was just around the corner. Starting Monday, as of today it is Wednesday. I was worried. This was our last year as a team, and maybe even as friends. I feared college would drive us all apart. That is why I had a trip planned for the team to get together after being apart all summer. So I was sitting in the kitchen planning the final details when my father walked in.
"Hey son, how is that trip coming along?" My father was paying for everything. He was a very successful businessman. He was well known around town being that he was Mayor and running the local all green powerplant. He was very respected.
"It is going good. All the guys are in and the cheerleaders are going to be there Saturday morning. We should be back Sunday night." My father was very proud that I was a jock. He said my athleticism came from my mom. My mother died when I was 7. I was devastated. I also lost my other bestfriend that day, my sister, Lacey. My sister meant the world to me. I was so young when they died that I really hadn't processed death. Young me just thought they where on a trip. It wasn't until I was 14 did I realize they were never coming back. My dad never was the same after they died. He never mentioned them, so neither did I. I shook the thoughts from my mind. "We are heading up there tomorrow so I need to do the shopping today. "
"Pick up some coffee too." He said throwing away the empty coffee container, and then exiting the room. That was about the most we have talked this week, he was always busy. I texted Chris my bestfriend.
'Hey, get ready I am coming to get you, to get the food for tomorrow'
'K.'
I went to my room and threw on some jeans, a grey shirt and my leather jacket. A lot of people described my style as 'bad boy'. The team say I make all the girls swoon at my feet. I wasn't going to deny that I liked it, because I did. I looked in my mirror the guys always told me I was a 'stud' and a 'chick magget'. I had shagy blonde hair that was slightly curly. I always wore a beanie over it because it managed some of the thick craziness, that was my hair. I had my mother's eyes, big bright green eyes. I stood at 6'1 and was very muscular. I could bench my weight easily. I grabbed my keys off my desk, switched off the light and headed out.

I was sitting in my room scrolling through social media when Gavin texted me. Gavin was my bestfriend since birth because our moms were so close. We grew up together and most people thought we were brothers. I texted Gavin back and jumped to my feet. I was so excited when Gavin's dad, Herry, started the tradition of the team getting together before school. The team for the past 2 years have been going up to the Will's family cabins. This year was different due to the cheerleaders tagging along this time, and of course the party. We started drinking a little last year but this year we weren't going to hold back. This was our last trip we were going to make memories. Herry was even paying for the alcohol provided no one drove. 'Keys at the door' is exactly what he said. I got changed out of my pjs into jeans, a white shirt and a grey and blue striped hoodie. I looked in the mirror. I was short compared to the other guys on the team. I stood at 5'7. Shit there are girls taller then me. I have black hair that I kept short. It was less then an inch in the back and sides, then there was a tuff of longer hair that was about 4 inches on top. My hair is stick straight and I hated it when it was long or short, so this was a happy middle. The only thing I hated more then my hair was my dimples in my cheeks when I smiled. I heard a car honk, breaking me from my thoughts. I took one last look in the mirror and sighed and headed outside to meet Gavin.
I hopped up into Gavin's truck. He was smiling at me. "What" I asked.
"You still have to jump?" He asked trying not to laugh.
"Yes. Trust me you will be the first to know when I grow a half a foot so I don't have to." I said in retaliation. He just smiled and headed off to the store.
When we got to the store we were walking around chatting about the team this year. "We need to find a good goalie." Gavin said as we approached the soda aisle.
"Devin could be our main goalie this year, or have Jake do it again this year." I said grabbing like 4 cases of Monster Energy drinks.
"Jager Bombs." He said reading my mind.
"Exactly." We got the rest of the list and then head to the liquor store.
With neither one of us 18 and Herry telling us to leave town to buy it, we went a couple towns over. We talked hockey about the whole way there till Gavin broke that chain.
"So is Ashlynn coming?" Gavin was referring to my cheerleader girlfriend. I was confused why he was asking me he was the one that invited the whole cheer squad.
"Yea. I think so." Honestly I had barely heard from her all summer. I don't know why I was not telling him the truth. We pulled up to the liquor store and grabbed our fake IDs out the glovebox. We went in and gave the cashier a list of what and how much.
The cashier looked at Gavin and asked. "How is your father?"
My heart skipped. Busted.
"Good, Dave. How are you?" I shot Gavin a shocked look. "Oh Dave is an old family friend." He showed Dave his fake ID. "For the cameras." Gavin said to me. I followed his lead and Dave started ringing the list up. Gavin paid and I grabbed the list back and started loading the truck. Dave and Gavin joined me after the sale was done.
When we were done Dave and Gavin exchanged goodbyes and we got into the truck and started to drive. My phone buzzed in my pocket to my suprise it was Ashlynn. What wasn't a surprise was the message.
'Chris we are done you haven't texted me all summer. I won't be going to your stupid party. Goodbye. '
Ashlynn was full of drama. I texted her every day this summer and she never replied.
"Wow." Gavin said.
"What?" I gave him a puzzled look.
"Sorry I was being nosy. I saw the text. Honestly good riddance. She was drama." Gavin said. It was creepy how it seemed like he read my mind.
"Good riddance." I deleted her number. "Time to party!" I screamed and blasted the radio. Gavin joined me in song.
