And I'm Locking Up Anyone Who's Every Laid a Finger on Me

Start from the beginning

The nurse looked confused. Louis had gotten that a lot. He had once been on the cover of almost every magazine. Now he was in a small town in North Carolina. Different one could say. Also, he was only twenty one, almost twenty two. It didn't  make sense in most people's eyes.

He sighed and explained. "Her parents are dead so I'm her dad. C'mon woman work with me."

The nurse rolled her eyes and said, " Room 711. You can only stay with her for an hour."

"I can stay with her as long as I fucking want. She's my daughter. My child. And she tried to kill herself. I will spend days in there if I have to. Don't you dare try to tell me how long I can spend with my baby," he spat out, and then proceeded to hop into an elelvatpr and go to the seventh floor.

The psychiatric ward had its own waiting room and own facilities. It was it's own hospital within a hospital.

Louis hated it.

"Anne," he sighed in relief, finally feeling the sadness that he had tried to put aside for the last few days become awakened.

"Louis," she said softly, like speaking to a child. He immediately engulfed her in his arms and dug his face into her hair. She was familiar. A constant presence around him for the last three years. She was safe, and was his second mother.

After crying a bit into her shoulder, he let go, and stepped back, running his fingers through his fringe. He was wearing a holey sweatshirt, some ripped up jeans, and scuffed up Vans. He looked a mess. And he felt it too.

"The snow back home is outrageous," he said angrily. "Couldn't get out until this morning. I've been freaking out all week."

"She wants to see you," Anne said cautiously. She pushed back Louis's fringe from his forehead, calming him down slightly. "But I'm gonna warn you, she's really fragile right now. She's been putting up fights all week, but H got through to her today and calmed her down, made her see the errors in her ways."

"Where is he?"

"He went to the cafeteria to get us some lunch. Back to what I was saying though. She's really delicate and small at this moment in time. Gem went through stages of being ashamed and scared. I think she's feeling quite frightened right now. Doesn't know what's going to happen next. But, she's getting clingy. She's going to want you to kiss her, and hug her, hold her hand, and make sure you tell her you love her. Okay sweetheart?" Anne asked.

Louis sniffed and nodded, trying to seem strong. "I'm not meaning to be mean to him or anything, it's just that. God Anne. I thought this was over."

"I know, darling. But just like it is with Gems. It's never really ever over. Go see her. She's been asking for you all morning. She's resting, but don't leave her side. I promised her that someone would be there when she woke up."

"Thank you so much," he kissed her cheek, shoved his hands in his pockets, and made his way down the hallway towards her room.
