there was a lot of excitement surrounding the revelation of bighit's new group - tomorrow x together. it was originally thought to be a boy group, as auditions had been held in previous years for boys, never were girl auditions mentioned.
but when it came to their debut, tomorrow x together had six members - five boys and one girl. the company had taken the risk years before when putting yena into bts, and this when sori was revealed as the female member, the company was accused of trying to recreate the formula which had helped bts become so widely known.
overall, it was more about the dynamic which the girl in the group caused, rather than trying to recreate the success with another group. without even having debuted, txt was the subject of online abuse, overshadowed and labelled as privileged, mo matter whether they were talented or not.
despite the online abuse, the accusations and labels, bighit decided to keep sori within the group to create that dynamic once more. and as well as that successful dynamic, they were yet again breaking that stereotype of having single gender groups, which wasn't seen very often in the industry.
tomorrow x together's debut was anticipated, many people waiting and already judging the group without hearing their music, just because they were from the same company as the world-famous group. but without the group being willing to go against that judgement, they wouldn't be able to achieve their dreams.
and they achieved that pretty quickly, to say the least.
