Prologue

Snapping his eyes open and jumping off of his bed, Monkey D. Luffy, captain of the Straw Hats, panted heavily before quietly walking out of his bedroom, hoping to get fresh air from outside.

As the Thousand Sunny was rocking gently in the warm wind, Luffy suddenly felt an icy cold chill, yet he also felt extremely hot heat shooting up his spine. "Ace..." he thought with deep sadness as he walked up to the deck and sighed heavily.

Two years... It's been two years since the War of the Best at Marineford, but to the young captain, it felt like a month. He could still remember, clear as day, as he, along with Jinbei, Buggy, Mr. 3, Ivankov, Inazuma, Whitebeard, the Whitebeard Pirates, and even Crocodile were battling the Marines, just to save Ace.

Luffy felt nothing but burning hatred to all the Marines, the three Admirals, and the Warlords, save for Hancock and Coby. In fact, he couldn't stop thinking about what his grandfather, Monkey D. Garp, had said to him when the old Marine Hero was blocking his path between him and Ace.

"Straw Hat Luffy, I consider you as my enemy!"

Thinking about it now, he was wondering what was going in his grandfather's mind? It could possibly he that regret that both his grandsons chosse to be Pirates, but Luffy knows all too well that it can't be it.

Both he and Ace wanted to be Pirates when they were younger, not some boring ass Marine. Then, he suddenly thought about his dad, Monkey D. Dragon. He doesn't even know who his dad that well, other than that he was the leader of the Revolutionary Army, but Luffy actually wondered if his dad ended up being trained by Garp.

He didn't even want to think about it as Luffy felt a shiver in his spine.

Brushing his hair away from his face, Luffy suddenly looked at his left hand and gasped when he saw blood, not just any blood; Ace's blood. The nineteen year quickly rubbed his hand against his shirt at a fast rate.

Panting heavily again, he suddenly thought about Sabo. A sad smile appeared on his face as he left tears appearing and he stopped rubbing his hand.

He suddenly thought about his reunion with his long lost brother back at Dressrosa. He and his Pirate Ally, Trafalgar D. Water Law are going to take down Doflamingo, but after hearing that the Mera Mera no Mi was a prize at the coliseum, he knew that if someone else ate the fruit... He didn't even want to think about.

So he entered in order to win his late brother's fruit, under the name 'Lucy'. It was sort of close to 'Luffy', but he didn't care as long as he can get his hands on the Mera Mera no Mi.

After he won the C Block, Luffy ended up changing his plans after seeing Law get shot by that Mingo bastard.

However, his worries faded away when he saw a familiar face from his past. At first, he didn't know who he is, but after processing, Luffy realized that it was Sabo. The Straw Hat Captain couldn't believe his eyes, but he was crying tears of joy and sadness as he quickly embraced Sabo, almost suffocating him.

He even agreed to let Sabo to eat the Mera Mera no Mi without any hesitation whatsoever, saying that it was the chance they have left of Ace. Seeing the Mera Mera no Mi in action again, Luffy can't help but he happy, yet sad at the same time.

Even though he was happy that Sabo was alive and well and he ate Ace's fruit, he was sad that... Ace died without knowing that Sabo was alive all this time. After defeating that Mingo bastard and freeing Dressrosa, Luffy, even though he was sleeping, actually overheard the conversation between Sabo, Robin, Franky, Zoro, Kin'emon and Kanjuro.
