"You. Are. Fired!", Crystal spat with barely restrained anger.
"Please Ma'am, I swear it was not my fault. I was only making coffee as you ordered. I didn't knew there would be a electric spark and coffee maker is going to go up in fumes....." The worthless, little twit, begged. What a waste of words. Couldn't he make a simple coffee? I had told Crystal to fire him a long time ago when he didn't clean my desk with a Shine-Fine glint but used Glass-Sparkle cleaner instead. I could sense his ineptness even then.
I sighed loudly.
"Didn't you hear what she said. Your skills are no longer needed here.", I chimed in, grinning devilishly at him behind Crystal's shoulder.
"You...you ...bitch! You told her lies, didn't you? You told her lies against me. I just know it. You made her fire me.",
The errand boy jerkily pointed at me and bared his yellowed teeth. Gross, doesn't he have a toothpaste? How much could it cost?
"Mr. Carlson", Crystal began arching her groomed eyebrow, " Are you suggesting I am one of those weak people who could be easily influenced? Do you think I don't know you purposefully damaged the company's property so you can get back at us for not allowing you Christmas holidays? Christmas is not for people like you.",Crystal looked down her nose at him then glanced at me over her shoulder.
"Throw him out. Write a very tasteful reference so other companies know not to hire him." Pursing her lips she sauntered off towards her office, heels clicking on the wooden floor.
The boy was throwing daggers at her back. Tsking, I approached him, leaned and whispered in his ear as he clenched his fist, "Run, little boy."
Then I followed Crystal to her office, after all, we had appointments to make. We could not afford to be side tracked. Being a secretary to the CEO of one of the greatest fashion brand came with it's responsibilities. Crystal depended on my ability to organize her work life and even sometimes her personal life, which was really boring honestly, not that I would ever say it loud. Even I was afraid of her sometimes. My job was to make sure that everything was scheduled, that she got all the records and briefings on time, read her emails and make sure she was punctual for her appointments. Crystal didn't like tardiness as if I give a damn but the job supports my expensive lifestyle so be it.
Crystal and I entered her office together. It was a place to see. Straight out of magazine. Literally. She saw it on an interior designing booklet on my work table and practically blackmailed the interior designer to make her office— on the 65th floor of the skyscraper she owned— an exact replica and destroy the sample room on the magazine in real life so she was the only one who had this. No wonder I like Crystal.
"I want you to cancel that meeting with Bart Lartner. Tell him I am busy with something else today", she walked towards her chair behind the magahony desk while she told me to make an appointment with a Spa instead.
The chair that was turned, facing the floor to ceiling window slowly swirled around. Crystal stopped in her tracks. My jaw hit the floor.
Sat on the chair was the epitome of absolute hotness. The type that belonged in a Greek temple to be worshipped by mere mortals.
Holy.....damn!
The man was sprawled lazily on the office chair with his right thigh resting on the arm rest and a wine glass in his left hand. Black hair. Check. Casual attire. Check. Muscles. Check. I sucked in a breath. He had an evil grin gracing his perfectly kissable lips, a mischeive in his emerald eyes so potent, I could hear warning bells in my head.
" Hello, ladies." Oh my......
It was Crystal who snapped out of it first." Who are you? What are you doing here?", She glared.
" Me? Ah.... I am God sent." He smirked.
"Oh God, you so are.", I muttered under my breath.
He flashed me a glance as he chuckled. Did he heard that? Shit...
"What?", Crystal bristled.
"Pumpkin, you look perfectly capable of understanding what I said or do you want me to repeat it. I. Am. God. Sent."
Crystal's face turned bright red at the insult. She opened her mouth but was cut off.
" My name is Fresher. I am God's most favoured angel. Do all his dirty work just as I am doing right now. What were you doing out there? Took you long enough to come in. I had been waiting for some while. Helped myself to," he lifted his wine glass in our general direction before smiling and what a smile it was, before continuing, "Hope you don't mind, pumpkin."
Crystal's nostrils flared." What did you called me?"
" Oh pumpkin, I didn't knew you were that slow."
"Shut up, you delusional idiot.", Crystal said venomously. Before she knew it, Fresher guy was standing in her very personal space as his eyes flashed luminously.
How the hell did he moved so fast? Did he even moved and his eyes, are they glowing? My mouth was permanently unhinged it seemed.
"Don't ever tell me to shut up, pumpkin. I don't take well to it. And close your mouth loveliness. Your jaw is going to fall down.", He said all this in a very quiet voice. Deadly was only way to describe it. I felt myself shiver.
Crystal took a step back. Crystal never stepped back. What in the Wellwine was happening?
" You. Security!", Crystal shouted.
"Ah..really, pumpkin. Do you think a very human security team can do me harm. You humans are so predictable. By the way, the room is soundproof for the time being."
" Soundproof?", I squeaked.
"Yeah, sugar. Soundproof. One of my many unwellwinely talents include bending the elements to my will. Like I just did. The air no longer transmits sound.", He looked at me expectantly as if he thought i would clap or something. I had no idea what he was talking about. Angel, I mean, I knew they existed and lived in Gods land, another realm entirely but it was unheard of them to ever pay a visit to Wellwine, let alone the headquaters of Fabille, a leading fashion brand, situated in Prudin. Was the God suddenly into fashion and all? It was possible.
Fresher the Angel chuckled. Nah, sugar. God's not into fashion or anything. He is fine lounging, in his simple white gown, on his recliner. He spoke in my head. Woah.
" What do you want?", Questioned Crystal at the end of her very limited patience.
Fresher laughed.
Cringe.
" I am here to put you in line, pumpkin. Your time of being naughty is up."
What are your thoughts so far? Any opinion on Crystal and Normani's attitude? What do you have to say about Fresher?
