April 8th, 2024, I  remember it as the day my reality shifted from one into another. The most I could recall was my father. Although, I don't remember much as to his features but more of his voice. It was soothing, like a bird chirping to its hatchlings.

I was 6, the equivalent of a 12-year-old human, my species' development is 6 years slower than humans when my father sent me to earth I recall him saying, I will return to you when and if I can.

It all went black after that. Next thing I knew, I woke up, trying to take in the surrounding without losing my calm head. I had no clue where I was.

With all the green bushy items, brown flooring, and a blue ceiling that seemed to engulf the world, I was slowly spiraling into myself. These weird, tall pillars with doors had beings that appeared to be similar to my race, trafficking in and out. Where they were going was an entirely new puzzle. The odd environment was so fresh and alarming for me, yet, I wanted to know more. What were those cubes on wheels and why were they wailing warnings at the people crossing the path? What was that in the little person's hand? It looked like a pink cloud on a stick.

Before I could explore the landscape, two of these things noticed me and started talking to me. Somehow, I understood them perfectly.

“Excuse me, where are your parents?” One questioned.  “Are you sick because you look very pale"

I just sat there in silence "I'm sorry but we can't leave you here, I need to know where your parents are.”

It then persisted until I eventually found my voice, using a language I didn't know I learned. "I...I don't know. What are parents and where am I anyway?"

This was followed by a long pause and the two pausing to gape at each other. "Wow, she must be really unhealthy. It must be affecting her memory, " The second whispers.

This is a strange custom; life here is so weird I thought.

“Well, come with us until we find your parents. Please, we insist" Seeing as there didn't seem to be much of an option I agreed. "Okay, I'll go".

"Great, we'll be happy to house you until your parents can be reached." The soft-toned one said eagerly. It was at that moment, however, when a piece of paper fell out of my pocket

“What is this, sweetheart?" Since I had no idea what it was or how it got there,  I shrugged. “I don't know. Why don't you find out for me."

So they did just that. The one that resembled a boy unfolded it to reveal a letter and read it aloud.

“To whom it may concern, I know this will not be easy to believe but the girl you found is an alien from a distant planet that is in extreme political turmoil. If you need proof that she is who I say she is, peek at her skin. She is called a paraman. We are known for having paper-white skin and supernatural abilities. Therefore, you may experience weird things follow her. Her name is Cassandra and I need someone to take her in and raise her as their own. She needs a strong family to help her grow until I am able to return. Thanks to whoever you are. I'm forever in your debt.
       Sincerely, Fara. ”

"Well, if she needs us, then we need to be here for her. Let's just hope John, Luke, and Arianna like her" The smaller of the two mumbled. "It doesn't appear we have a choice, does it, hun?"

"Not at all."

"It's Cassandra, right?" The girl one asked.

"Yes, I think that's my name," I said, unaware of how dumb it sounded "Nice to meet you. I'm Carol Wyatt and this here is David Wyatt. The letter said you were an alien. But even if you are, you're still a living thing so we want to raise you as our daughter and teach you about life on this planet, that is if you are up to it.”

I had to speculate about the offer.  I was like a clownfish in freshwater. I didn't know who I was, where I was, or what I was. All I knew was these people were nice enough to be there for me and I couldn't be picky.

"Yes, I would love that, sincerely."

"Well, then, let's go home, Cassandra Wyatt. You are now one of us." David announced, stretching his hand to mine.

My life was never the same after that moment.
