"Imani wake up you're almost late for school!" My mom yells out from downstairs.
I looked at the time to see it was 7 in the morning. I swear it was 6:25 two minutes ago how does this happen.
I immediately jump out from my bed and get ready.

As my cold feet touch the floor I look into my vanity mirror and see a bird's nest on my head. I sigh out loud thinking how many combs I'm about to break. "Imani! You better be up!" I slowly take a deep breathe and yell "I'm up!" I get a hoodie and some shorts from my closet and hop in the shower making sure to detangle my hair in the process. I dry off and put my clothes on then do my face and teeth routine.

I go down stairs and my mother finishing up cooking some pancakes and eggs and my father watching the news on his phone. "Good morning" I say, catching their attention. They both look up and my mom thrust a plate of food in my hand while my dad says good morning back quickly looking back down at his phone. "Hurry and eat so you don't be late to school" my mom says while cleaning up the mess she made. "Wheres Yasmin." I ask mom. "She already left with her friends." She says as I nod ok. I say goodbye to my mom and dad and walk outside. I feel the sun before it hits me. summer is far from over I think.
My school is ten minutes from my apartment complex so I speed walk trying to make it on time, I have a car but it's in the shop, it's a black 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. It's not the best but at least it take me to places I need to go. I break out in a sweat by the time I make it to the school parking lot. Walking up the stairs that lead to the front desk I see my best friends Tori, Tyron and Sabrina. Tori and Tyron and twins and they argue like there's no tomorrow but they're funny. Sabrina she's the quiet one but don't let her silence fool you. Shes a freak sometimes but she's also really smart.

"YOOO WHATS UP CUHH!" Tyron yelled. Oh my God I swear he always has to be the center of attention. "you're so loud." I whisper as I put my finger to my mouth. "He was like this since this morning, he came into my room and screamed wake up in my ear. It wasn't even time for school it was four in the morning!" Tori says as she rolls her eyes. Sabrina and I laughed as Tyron just smirked in victory for annoying his sister.
"Bruh ok so there this girl right and I swear she's been checkin' me out for the past three weeks and I have to say she kinda hot." Tyron says as he licks his lips. He is always over some girl. he's like the hoe of the group. Ion' blame them though he sexy as hell. He has curly black hair he has dark brown eyes and has dark skin and a beautiful smile I mean he's got the whole package he also 6'4 hell yeah. Too goofy tho.

"Is' you talking 'bout that girl that moved across from us a month ago?" Tori asks. "Yeah how you know?" He asks. "Negro! She 12!!" Tori exclaimed. All our eyes widen and me and Sabrina started bursting out laughing.

"Wait, how you know!" Tyron ask. "You probably would've known if you came wit' me and mom to greet em'." Tori rolls her eyes and Tyron groans in aggravation. "Pedophilia does not look good on you!" Sabrina laughs. "Shut up." Ty whines.
I smile then walk away trying to get to my first period on time. Not tryna hear my mom's mouth about me being late

I walk to my desk in first block and see a white girl in the seat next to mine. She has dark brown hair and brown eyes with a shit ton of freckles. She was looking at her phone playing some game. I give her a glance and then sit down. Soon the class starts filling with hormone filled teenagers and one stale teacher. I look at them in boredom wanting to be anywhere but here.
The teacher starts talking about expectations and handing out a syllabus that no one is finna' read. The White girl next to me puts her phone down and starts looking around as if she was just noticing where she was. She turns to look at me and her eyes go wide. I look at her and give her a bored expression. Is there something on my face? She smiles at me starts to speak but I'm not not listening. Her eyes are so pretty... "Um hello? Helloooo?" Oh I forgot she was talking. "I'm sorry what were you saying?"
"I said my name is Logan." She says smirking. "I'm new here."

That explains why I haven't seen her before
