Chapter 4: Uninvited Guests

Start from the beginning

"No. But um, listen, apparently some report got my number, so I am going to dump this one, so don't bother calling me on this phone." Raven said pushing her hair back.

"Wha-"the twins started, but she shut off her phone.

She quickly deleted all of her social media account. Suddenly her phone went crazy. Hundreds of texts and phone calls came in. Raven looked up and saw a clear plastic pitcher full of water in the kitchen. Raven limped into the kitchen, dropping of her phone into the pitcher. There was a yellow sticky note on the fridge, Raven took it down.

"There is some fresh salad in the fridge, and there is a bag of biscuits in the cupboard right next to the microwave." Raven quietly read it aloud.

"Signed; Mum." Raven said crumpling the note and tossing it into the trash.

Raven opened the fridge and took out a small plastic box with Caesar salad inside. She grabbed a fork, as she headed into the main room and turned on the tele.

"Welcome, my name is Josh Gerald, and today the London Air Lines announced that they are going to open a monument and grave site honoring the Wales plane crash site that happened about fifteen years ago. There were a couple of complaints from the family members that lost loved ones in the crash on the air lines timing. But the biggest question on the public mind on the topic is 'What does the miracle child survivor Raven Shadows say about this event', since Raven found in the wreckage." A tall redheaded man said on BBC News.

Raven growled with a mouthful of lettuce in her mouth.

"Ace report Deride Miles is on the scene to ask Ms. Shadows a couple of questions, Deride are you there?" the man continued, and the screen switched off to a short blonde woman standing in front of Raven flat.

"Thank-you Josh. I am here at the Shadows residence and Raven Shadows just arrived. In the background you could see Raven walking up to her flat, she just stopped to answer a couple of questions I will try to get close-"Raven quickly switched off the tele.

She set her salad aside on the kitchen table and limped up the stairs into her room. It was, interesting. The walls were painted ice blue with her name written in graphite on the back wall with dark blue, neon pink, and green. The rest of the furniture was black, including the carpet and bed covers. Her bed was in the corner right next to the window.

A large desk in the opposite corner, with her laptop, notebooks, books, and skateboard on the desk. On the opposite wall was covered with a bookshelf full of books and a couple of snap backs hung a small coat hanger nearby. Raven flopped face down on her bed than turned to face the ceiling she closed her eyes when she heard the front door open. Two sets of heavy footsteps thudded on the bottom floor.

"Raven. Why is your phone in the water pitcher?" Martha asked.

Martha glanced nervously at Raven, and at Robert. Both were eating their take-out spaghetti, avoiding any eye contact. Raven played with a meatball with her fork. Martha cleared her throat slowly.

"So how was school?" Martha asked uncertainty.

Raven looked up at Martha and narrowed her eyes before setting down her fork.

"Educational." She said simply, taking a sip of water before resuming toying with her food.

"Good." Martha said putting on a forced smile.

Robert finally looked at Martha; his eyes glinted with a hidden meaning. There was another pause of uncomfortable silence, before Martha tried again to lighten the mood.

"So, I saw some reporters nearby when we came back. Did they ask any question?"

Raven let out a frustrated sigh. She got up and picked up the tele controls and turned it on.

"Welcome back, my name is Josh Gerald, and tonight in the studio is a representative from the British Airlines and he will enlighten us on the companies response to miracle child survivor of the Wales plane crash tragedy, almost 18 years ago, Raven Shadows." The screen was filled by a familiar red head.

Then the camera view switch to Josh sitting at a long table with a tall blond man in his late twenties wearing a black and grey business suite.

"I have the pleasure to welcome Alexander Franks to the show. Now let's put it mildly, what is the company's response to this supposed challenge from Raven Shadows that was stated this afternoon."

Then the screen cut to a camera zoomed in on Raven talking to a crowd of reporters.

"I suppose they did." Raven said setting down the controls, and then she limped out of the dining hall.

"I'm not hungry."

Martha and Robert glanced at each other.

"Are you going to tell her or should Gregory?" Robert asked when Raven's figure disappeared into the shadows.

Martha turned away and looked at the screen silent. Raven was at the bottom of the stair case when there was a loud pounding on the front door. Raven hesitated before slowly walking up to the door and opened it, to a familiar pair of brown eyes that sparkled when they saw Raven's angry face.

"I am not going to even bother asking." Raven said.

"Can we talk?" Daniel asked.

"I don't know. You tell me." Raven retorted.

"Can I come in?" Daniel asked hopefully.

"You are an uninvited guest." Raven said as she started to close the door.

Daniel's foot was instantly jammed in the door. His face inches away from Raven's.

"Still a guest." He murmured.

"An unwanted one too." Raven growled.

Suddenly she saw a small group of reporters. She shoved Daniel out of the door yelling, "Get out of here you stalker!" before slamming the door shut.

Daniel was instantly mobbed by the rush of reporters. Raven smirked as she started her long climb up the stairs.

"Who was it?" Robert hollered from the living room.

" A uninvited guest." Raven said quietly.
