Kai's POV

---------------------

1980's

The sound of fire crackling and whimpering filled the cave during the night, the female pushed herself up to look down between her legs, two pups matching perfectly laid in her mates' arms. He smiled at his mate and spoke their names... "Kai and Kiba." her eyes lit up and she smiled.

1997

Yup! That's when we were born, November 19th, 1980. I am just two minutes older than Kiba and he never spoke too much, so I spoke for him. To this day I have been speaking for him and we're 17 now. We will be turning 18 in just a couple of days. Kiba is excited to meet his mate but I'm not too sure about myself, I think it's pretty nerve-racking. My parents were overprotective and they still are but they've loosened up since then. Even so, meeting someone that I will presumably spend my entire life with is scary, especially if I might hate them.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and I whipped around, scaring Kiba as he put a hand over his heart. "What are you doing? You've been staring off into the woods for a while." he spoke slowly as if thinking about what to say. I sighed and shook my head.

"Sorry, got caught up in my thoughts." I mumbled, fixing my black oversized turtleneck sweater. Kiba nodded.

"Mom asked us to go into town, we need to pick up some food," he said and pulled a grocery list from his pocket. I groaned, I hate going into town. I moved out of the cave with Kiba following.

Once we made it into the town, we made our way over to the supermarket. A few rogues from the gang 'Zombies' were standing outside of it, smoking and drinking. All wearing a leather jacket that had the name Zombies sewn onto it with the logo. I shrugged them off and moved into the supermarket as they eyed us while we walked in, most likely catching our wolf scent.

I grabbed a basket and moved down the isles, picking up the food we were sent to get before I felt a rough hand grasp my upper arm, I turned and looked up at the male who held my arm, his eyes looking over my features. I shivered when I saw a predatory look appear in his eyes, I looked over my shoulder and saw Kiba standing there with a look of shock on his face.

My face immediately paled when I saw the leather jacket he was wearing, I already knew it was one of the Zombies. My mind was screaming at me to run but I stood still, of all the times to be stubborn it had to be NOW.

I cleared my throat and spoke; "Excuse me." I said in a stern voice, trying to keep my face straight but I'm secretly pissing myself.

He grinned, his long canines showing. "You smell foul, Omega." he growled and leaned closer to my face. I immediately pulled my face back, the smell of cigarettes filled my nostrils so I scrunched up my nose and looked back at my twin.

He glanced up and looked at Kiba, only noticing him now. Kiba was noticeably paler and I noticed he was looking somewhere else so I followed his gaze, I visibly stiffened and dropped the basket as I jerked my arm out of the hand that was holding me.

I stumbled back and grabbed Kibas arm, while pulling him around and getting ready to run. When I turned around, My face planted into the chest of another one of the members, I cursed under my breath and turned back around.

"Look, We don't want any trouble," I spoke in a serious voice, I looked at the taller male, I assume it's their leader.

One scoffed before looking at Kiba, who was as stiff as a board. "What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" the taller male teased.

Kiba shook his head and opened his mouth to speak, only air came out. He was obviously getting more nervous by the second.

"He doesn't speak," I said, my eyes narrowing at the male as if challenging him.

He bared his teeth at me before flicking his wrist to the right and I felt something move behind me, I turned around seeing the member that was there has moved to the right.

"Run along little Omegas, you better hope the other gangs will spare you," he teased once more but it was enough to have Kiba and I running out of the market and back home.

------

We were out of breath as we arrived home, our mother instantly scolded us about not getting the food before her gaze stiffened as we told her what had happened.

"You weren't followed... Were you?" she spoke quickly while peeking outside of the cave.

"No, I don't know! You think we would look!?" I yelled, stomping my foot and walked further into the cave, leaving my brother there with my mother.

Suddenly I heard a scream, followed by multiple growls and I immediately ran back to the entrance to find out what happened. The gang members' were playing tricks on us back at the market, they weren't sparing us. It was merely a game of cat and mouse for them. I didn't know what to do until I heard my mother.

"RUN!" my mother yelled so Kiba and I shifted as fast as we could, our clothes being torn as our cries of pain echoed throughout the cave, once we were finished, we ran out of the cave. We caught some attention from a couple of the gang members and they were on our tails, quite literally, but we were small so we fit under logs. We hid underneath as the two snapped their jaws at us.

------

It became night quickly and the wolves had left about 3 hours ago, Kiba and I stayed under the log until we knew they were gone. We crawled out slowly, still in our wolf forms, my wolf howled in panic and need for our family but it reached out to Kibas, needing some kind of comfort and Kiba's wolf responded. We shared a look before walking off, I knew my human form would hurt after being shifted for so long.

------

We found a cave about an hour later and stumbled inside before switching into our human forms. We huddled together for warmth while our eyes looked around the cave. Kiba looked at me worriedly and I shared the look. I don't know how but we eventually fell asleep.
