"Listen, I know that we've had our differences bu--" Braedon started.
"No, just shut up!" Karla yelled while stepping back. She wanted as far away from Braedon as possible. "You broke my heart once, I don't want you to do it again!"
"And I'm really sorry about that, but if we want to get out of here we need to work together."
Karla turned away. Why did she even agree to this? She always wanted to go to an escape room, but now they were actually stuck in the escape room. Scarlett and her boyfriend Alex had gone ahead to the next room, but then something went wrong with the room, and it wasn't part of the whole escape part. They were actually trapped. Workers had been working to get them out for the past thirty minutes.
Braedon sighed. "Kar, I really am sorry."
"Don't call me that."
Karla could feel Braedon's eyes staring into her back. She knew she should have left when she saw him. Scarlett had told her that they were going to an escape room and she agreed, but then they got to the escape room, Alex and Braedon were there. Scarlett and Alex told them that they need to let the past go and should become at least friends.
Of course Karla hated that idea. Braedon had broken her heart, and she didn't think she could forgive him.
"Alright Karla, but I'm really sorry. If we want to escape this...escape room, we need to work together."
Karla walked over to a dest that had a bunch of books and nicknacks on it. She picked up a book labled Targets. She flipped through the pages. No matter how much she hated to admit, if they wanted to escape, they would have to work together or, they could just wait until someone comes and saves them.
But then that means being in a room with Braedon for who knows how long.
She did not want to be in the same room with Braedon for longer than she had too.
Karla sighed and put the book down. "Okay. Let's try to escape."
. . . .
"It will work, I swear!" Braedon shouted, he held the key that they needed to escape. There was another key down a long pipe. The pipe was virticle from the ground and one side had a magnet held by a string to bring the key up while the other side of the pipe was a window where you could see the maze the key had to go through. Unfortunately, the room was dark and made the corner where the pipe was hard to see.
"No, you got it all wrong. Look!" Karla shoved Braedon which made him drop the magnet with the key.
"Now look what you've done!" Braedon grumbled.
Karla roled her eyes. "Just shut up and watch."
Karla picked up the string with the magnet. While Braedon was doing a poor job trying to bring the key up by the magnet, Karla had memorized the way and was determined to prove that she could do this. Braedon on the other hand, was being stubborn and wouldn't let her have a try, since he also thought he could do it.
Karla chuckled. What an amature.
It took a couple minutes, but Karla eventually got the key out of the pipe. She smirked as she held the key in front of Braedon's face. He turned away, but couldn't help smiling.
"Told ya I could do it." Karla smiled.
"Yeah, yeah whatever. Just give me that." Braedon said snatching the key out of her hand. They went over to the door where they had to have three keys to open it. They already knew that the room had a seperate room, but it didn't make it any less suprising to see the bookshelf open up into another room.
"We make a good team don't we?" Braedon whispered.
Karla wasn't sure if he meant to say that outloud. She shrugged. "Yeah, I guess we do."
Braedon looked at her and smiled. Her chest suddenly took a leap and she was filled with memories and emotions of why she had loved him so much.
Had she really been lying to herself this whole time?
Braedon was a jerk, but maybe that's why she loved him so much?
Maybe it was his big goofy smile or his dazzling blue gems as eyes?
Or was it that he was always kind and sweet to her? Was it because everytime they hungout he would bring her a small box of chocolates.
"Kar?"
Karla jerked out of her daydream she was having. "Yeah?"
She didn't even realize Braedon had called her Kar. It had felt so natural and...right for him to call her that.
"I really do miss you."
Karla smiled sadly. "Yeah...I do too."
"Can we please...just try it again?"
Karla looked at Braedon's eyes. They were full of sadness that made her heart break. Part of her didn't want to be broken again, but part of her longed for him.
Karla nodded slowly. "We can, but under one condition."
Braedon's brow furrowed. "What condition?"
Karla reached over at the dest and opened a droor. She pulled out a knife and smiled. "You'll give me your head,"
