Keeping My Distance...

(Gold's POV)

I command my Pokemon to create an explosion.

Then we run away.

I hide and watch from a distance.

Then I see Proton running away.

I command Etaro to grab him. I snap my fingers and Proton's got a scared expression.

The other members of Team Rocket don't notice Proton and keep on running.

"I-I can't believe you're still ALIVE!" He says.

Me and my Pokemon walk to a spot where the dex holders won't spot us.

"Kid. Spare me. Please!" 

I mouth, "Why should I? You tortured me in in that lighthouse and tried to KILL me."

I take off his hat and hold it.

Etaro throws him to the wall and he's unconscious.

Then I snap my fingers as all my Pokemon attack.

An explosion appears around us and I drop Proton's hat.

We run away, far from the others.

(Crystal's POV)

There was an explosion nearby.

We all go ahead to check it out.

The only thing we see is a Team Rocket cap on the ground.

"He's alive!" Sapphire yells, happily.

"How do YOU know?" Ruby asks.

"Don't you remember that Gold is killing the executives?"

"Who died?" Red asks.

"Proton." Silver replies. "Gold is hunting for Ariana now. Unless he wants to finish off the grunts, then she's the last of them."

"He-he was so... injured and bruised." I say.

"I got a good look at him." Silver says, "His face was bruised, his wrists were redder than Red himself, his clothes were ripped... I can go on and on explaining Gold's situation."

"But remember?" Sapphire says, "His clothes were ripped and his face was bruised before he was captured!"

"That could be because he's been staying outside." Green says, "That means, ever since his home was destroyed, he's been going on without shelter."

"But..." Blue says, "why didn't he tell us?"

"Haven't you noticed?" Sapphire says, "He's not the Gold we knew! He's changed. We're complete strangers to him now!"

"No..." I say, "that's not true!"

"Crystal," Sapphire says, "we all want to believe that he's still the same. But let's face it... he's lost. He's not coming back!"

Silence falls upon us.

Then Yellow speaks up, "But... why..? Why is he doing this?"

"Revenge on the executives..." Emerald says.

"But..." Yellow says, "why is he ignoring us?"

"We'll have to find him first." Red says.

"Then we ask him!" Blue says.

We go looking for him once more.
