Stefan furrowed his brows in brief confusion as he left the kitchen and began quizzically making his way to the parlour room with the intention of opening the front door. Once he was gone, Elena turned to Damon, noticing him scan the screen and tap his fingers in impatient agitation. "Have you seen Liv today?" He asked Elena. "She disappeared this morning and she's not answering my calls."

The brunette shrugged cluelessly. "She probably just went home. Last night was pretty intense." Elena's answer didn't seem to ease the strange feeling painfully twisting in his gut and the uneasiness rising within him. Noticing this, the brunette instantly felt an array of sympathy for the elder Salvatore considering everything that had recently happened between him and Olivia and so she sought to ease his mind. "I'll text Caroline and ask if she's seen her."

Damon nodded appreciatively as the brunette pulled out her phone to send a quick message to the blonde just as Stefan re-entered the kitchen. "Look who's here." He announced with a mocking tone of enthusiasm as he progressed further into the room, revealing Elijah who walked out behind him.

"Elijah? What are you doing here?" Elena asked.

The Original paused as his eyes skimmed over the three, slightly disappointed Olivia wasn't there seeing as there were several things he wished to talk about with the girl. Nevertheless, he continued. "I believe there are a few things we ought to discuss."

"You think?" Damon returned in disinterest, prompting Elena to throw him a disapproving glare whilst Elijah ignored their exchange, proceeding to speak.

"I'd like to start off by expressing my apologies once more for Rebekah's actions last night." He directed his words mainly to Elena who nodded awkwardly. "She was rather distraught after I un-daggered her, which I'm sure you can understand, but I assure you, no attacks of the sort will happen again. My mother will keep my siblings in line ⏤  Klaus included." He added. "And so you have nothing further to worry about when it comes to my family. I can promise you that."

Elena smiled uncomfortably whilst Stefan, growing progressively more bored, decided to finally say something. "I'm guessing you didn't just come here to talk about Rebekah."

"No, I did not." He returned. "I figured since we now have a peace accord of sorts, I should do my best to answer some of the questions you may currently have."

"Questions?" Elena recited in confusion, unaware of the discussion they shared at the dinner party the other night about a supposable tribrid.

Stefan, however, was quick to respond with a question that had been actively consuming his thoughts for a while now. "What's a tribrid?"

Elena's brows drew together as Damon spoke up before Elijah could. "According to Ric and the symbols he found in the cave system, It's a cross between three different species," Damon answered ⏤ though that was the full extent of his knowledge.

"Like Klaus?" Elena's eyes widened significantly.

"Partially." Elijah nodded back as Stefan listened eagerly to the continuation of his words. "Except unlike conventional hybrids ⏤ my brother included ⏤ a tribrid is a creature that includes the addition of being part witch."

"And there are actually tribrids out there?" Elena voiced another query.

"There are rumours of a singular being," He nodded.

"How is that even possible?"

Elijah paused, thinking of the best way to satisfy their minds. "Perhaps it's best if I explain the origin of our knowledge." With no objections, he was prompted to continue. "Centuries ago now, before Katerina and before the ritual Klaus attempted to use her for in order to invoke his hybrid side, there were rumours of a creature ⏤ a tribrid. Rumours which explicitly mentioned the power such a creature could possibly hold." He began.
