"Did you know humans frown on weight variances?" She asked, reminiscing, as the two navigated their way through the calibration chamber. "If you want to upset a human, just say their weight variance is above or below the norm."
Orange and Blue eventually passed through calibration with flying colors. When they had hit the final button and were able to proceed into the real testing, GLaDOS sighed in relief. "Finally! I had almost given up hope of ever testing again."
Cheap confetti fell over them from a compartment in the ceiling as they approached the door. "You are the first robots to pass calibration." She praised, though it was less of a praise and more of an observation.
The two robots looked to each other, their eye plates sliding up so that they had joyous looks in their eyes. The two brought their hands up and smacked them together, triumphantly. GLaDOS glared, the camera just beside the door zooming in on them. "Oh, stop that. Completing this course is not an excuse to behave in such a way."
The bots looked up at the camera, shrugged, and continued into the small room beyond the door. Inside, was a set of disassembly machines. "Step on in. The machines will disassemble you, and reassemble you in the hub. You have nothing to worry about. I just needed to make the point that you two are completely disposable, so you don't start feeling too important." GLaDOS hummed.
Orange and Blue looked frightened, to say the least, but they complied with her orders and stepped into the pods. As promised, the machines began to take them apart, and when they were reassembled, they found themselves somewhere entirely new.
"This is the Computer Intelligence Training and Enrichment Center Human Test Subject Research Center or CInTECH." GLaDOS introduced them to the space. "But why don't we all just agree to call it the hub?"
GLaDOS could admit, that the big, open room looked scrappy and thrown together, but that's because it was. She had gone through and carefully designed each testing course, but when she was trough, she realized that she had no way of efficiently connecting them all. That's where the hub came in.
It looked more or less like a room that was still under construction. The testing tracks were off to the sides, and in the center of the room, was a platform on which to access one of them. The others were not yet reachable, but she would find a way before the testing was over. Below, was nothing but empty space. An abyss, if you will. GLaDOS could only hope that neither of the bots fell in. If they did, though, she had numerous spares waiting in the back. It would be less of a loss, and more of a disappointment.
"All cooperative testing courses begin at this central hub. From here, we transport you to the new testing course." Orange and Blue shared and understanding nod and started toward the door of the new course, which, in all honesty, surprised GLaDOS. She wasn't quite sure why she was surprised. After all, she had created them for testing; it was only natural for them to comply. Perhaps, it was the fact that they did not resist that surprised her. She was so accustomed to the humans, that she had forgotten what orderly testing was like. It almost took some of the excitement out of it for her.
As the bots entered the team-building course, the monitor in GLaDOS's chamber briefly went black, as she sighed. "Good. Everything is going according to plan."
"Lady GLaDOS?" A small voice from behind her called. As she spun around to face her addressor, she was met with the small face of a turret. Though, by the way she had gotten GLaDOS's attention, she could tell that this was not just any turret.
"Echo," She greeted, before turning back to the monitor, which still seemed to be loading up to the next set of cameras.
The turret that crawled closer, was Echo, the Oracle Turret that Chell had saved from the turret redemption line and given a name to, before she was released into the wild. GLaDOS had originally planned to throw her back into the incinerator, where she would have ended up in the first place, but she thought it nice to have her around. Even she couldn't be so heartless as to discard the little turret. She certainly was different, and had a mind of her own. GLaDOS even found herself having conversations with the turret when there was nothing else to do.
She was actually shocked. For quite a bit of time, the turret was scared to death of her, and would actively attempt to keep their interaction to a minimum. As time went on, she seemed to open up and become more comfortable around GLaDOS, eventually to the point where she would wander into the chamber any old time to see what was new with her schemes.
"What, may I ask, is your plan?" Echo skittered closer to the monitor, looking at it curiously. "Can I stay and watch the testing, ma'am?"
GLaDOS looked down at her, gently chuckling. "Believe it or not, I am putting them to testing for a good reason. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, though, so I'll keep it as a surprise..."
"I like surprises..."
The mainframe nodded in agreement with the turret's statement. "I like them too. We'll just... See where this one goes..."

I'm bad at...Ending chapters...
But, here we are!
Listen, I love little Echo too much to never bring her up again. She was a small feature in Want You Gone and she played a very small role in the games, aside from some great foreshadowing, so any details about her are honestly just personal headcannons
Look, the point is, I wanted to bring her back and make her a slightly more integral character, because I love her. I hope we are all on board with that.
Thank you for reading! I can't say that there will be a chapter schedule and I will update as I find the time for it, but I will most likely update far more on the weekends.
Tell me what you think, and I'll see you in the first chapter!
(Also, lemme know if you would like me to make some art for the chapters, because I think it'd be fun!)
