It was midnight. She sprinted through the dark and damp forest, bare foot in her beautiful gown which was now darkened by the filth and mud from the forest floor. Trees, branches, twigs and roots all contorted into one boundless hole of darkness consuming anything that dared to enter.

As she ran, she ignored the pain of her bloody feet. All she had in her mind was to run. Run away from the monsters behind. Getting consumed by the darkness was a risk she was willing to take.

But the one thing she shouldn't have done was look back....
