Bakugou's POV
Black and white.
That's all I've seen all my life. It's not like there's something wrong with my eyes, though, it's completely normal for people. It's that whole soulmate thing, or whatever. Though I could care less.
I don't really see a need to find my soulmate. I don't really like the idea that "fate" or whatever chooses who you love. Dating so much more complicated, since everyone only wants to date their chosen partner. Sure, there are bars and dating sites for people who don't like the whole soulmate thing, or for people who weren't born with one or theirs died. Not like I would do that, though.
Trust me, I would do something like that. No question. Except for one thing, or person.
My actual soulmate.
They write to me everyday. Every single day. Non-stop. Every since I was 12, they started writing to me. I've never answered them, because maybe they'll think I'm dead or something. It doesn't matter to me. I normally wear long sleeves to cover my arms so I don't have to read whatever they write. I've never had the guts to tell them that I don't care for the whole soulmate thing. I feel like I would disappoint them too much. People spend their whole lives waiting to meet their soulmates, and this one person is wayyyy too excited to meet me.
Today, I start my first day of high school. I'm attending UA High School, a prestigious school where they have a specific study course; the hero course. UA is ranked number one in all of Japan, since it's had tons of successful pro heros graduate from it. I'm excited, not to make friends, but to become the best hero ever known. No time for friends, no time for soulmates.
Kirishima's POV
"Get out of bed, you lazy sack of shit!" I heard bouncing off the walls. That's my dad... He's not really a good person. Neither is my mom. Honestly. Neither of them are cut out to be parents. They both have anger issues and don't know how to control their emotions. I'm usually alone in the house, since they're both probably out drinking or something. I'm not sure if they're even in love anymore, they're probably cheating on each other. I know for a fact that my mom is, but I'd never tell my dad. Both of them would kill me before killing each other.
I've always wanted to be more manly. That's why I wanted to become a hero; to protect those who can't protect themselves. Like myself.
So that's why I enrolled in UA High. I'm still shocked that I passed the exams to get it, I was sure I would fail and get rejected. My parents sure thought that, too. But when the acceptance letter came in, we were all surprised.
I'm currently on my way to this school, ready to start a new life where basically no one knows my past! It'll be great!
