Vinnie

I helped Mason to my bicycle. He was all sleepy and dizzy... God, what a cute little fox. I bought him a few mints for his breath and a bottle of water at a convenience store just nearby.

We hopped on and took off to get back home. It's weird, I thought it would be cold out on a night like this... But no... It's warm. And nice.

Mason hugged me tightly on the ride back home. The soft breeze passing through us felt calm and soothing. The wind tickled my face.

We started to ride down a hill. We could see the whole town from up here, bright and shiny, like golden fire flakes.

Mason rested his head on my back. I smiled.

This felt good. Everything about this felt... good.

I was Mason's protector now.

It's my duty to keep this fox safe.

We rode into town. It was quiet. Usually, the streets are occupied by furs, but now it was empty. It was like my town had a soft side, a part of it I've never noticed before. It was relaxing and tranquil. Mason almost fell asleep.

I drove down the street and parked the bike right in front of Mason's home.

I had to nudge him from his half-awake, half-asleep state.

"Here we are," I whispered to him.

Mason yawned and stepped carefully off the bike.

He looked back at me.

"Thank you, Vinnie." He whispered back to me.

"No problem, Mace." I smiled.

Mason returned the grin.

"It's growing on me." He confessed, smirking.

"You have a nice night, now." I dismissed.

"You too, dork." He said, slowly turning around and walking up the patio to his front door.

I put my paw on the pedal, ready to bike back home.

But, something stopped me.

Something stopped Mason.

He didn't go inside. He turned around.

I looked at him. He looked at me.

We knew we couldn't end the night like this.

I stepped off my bike.

Mason came down the steps.

We walked towards each other.

We met in the middle of the sidewalk, only a meter apart.

Mason came towards me, leaned up, and placed his muzzle on mine.

He kissed me.

I... I don't know what to say.

His lips were soft and smooth... His body was warm and fuzzy to the touch...

This kiss... It's precious...

It's precious to me.

It lasted a few seconds. But those seconds felt like hours.
