Mesmerized

Chapter 1

The chilled autumn air, the sounds of falling dead leaves, them being crushed under the weight from people's shoes as they stepped on them, it was music to Anna's ears as she marched her way up to the best coffee shop in town.
"The kitten Cafe." Not only dId Anna love it because they had a variety of coffees, cappuccinos, and frappes.
She also loved the fact that it literally had a kitten inside of it, the name did not lie, it was a beautiful white Persian cat whom Anna just loved.
She yearned for a cat but unfortunately her apartment would not allow it, and she didn't have the money to move into a different one.
Marching her way up to the menu she pushed her glasses up a bit and forced all her focus on the large board laid out in front of her, she easily got distracted so she had to try extra hard to make sure she gets it right.
"How May I help you today?."
Anna looked down feeling confident yet nervous as the place was growing crowed, to crowded for her comfort. Nervously smiling she said.
"I'll have just a plain vanilla cappuccino please."
The cashier pushed a few buttons, there was a ding as the drawer opened exposing all the hundreds of dollars in that drawer, Anna sighed wishing she could find a job that'd pay her a decent amount with decent hours....
"That'll be $2.49."
Reaching into her bottomless pit she called a purse she dug out $2.49 exactly.
"Thank you!." She politely said with a smile.
The cashier handed her the coffee, and she searched for a place to sit down.
She once again reached into her purse and pulled out her kindle fire. It was pink.
Blue was her favorite but she wanted it to look girly. As she took a sip of her coffee she let a small "mhm" out. It was delicious, the taste made her taste buds melt with delight.
Logging onto her gmail as usual she had noticed something!. A job had messaged her!.
Full of excitement she opened the email.
"Dear, Anna

We are happy to inform you that we have indeed read over your application for our company "Cleanly Rooms."
Congratulations! We would like to have an interview with you In order to see if you are really right for this job, you have enough experience so you should be fine. We can make an appointment for the interview at any time just reply back to this email or if not comfortable you can call 673-782-678. Thank you and we hope you'll get back to us soon! We'd love to have you at our company" :)

Forcing her smile away she calmly placed her kindle back into her purse, zipped it up, pushed her chair back, grabbed her coffee rushing outside to jump for joy! Many people on the street stared at her and some even questioned if something was wrong with her but she didn't care she was happy.
Anna reached into her back pocket pulling out her phone and dialing the company's phone number.
She waited patiently.
"Hello this is Cleanly Rooms how may I help you today?."
"U-um yes my name is Anna. It may say Anastasia on there, um you guys emailed me about an interview? And I was just calling to schedule one."
A pep full voice cracked up.
"Oh yes! Of course Anna, yes your application is right here. We have an opening today if you'd like to do that?."
Shocked Anna calmed herself.
"Yeah okay that's great!...um, what time today?."
"Let me seeeee...oh! You can come in right now if you'd like! The boss is here from now till....well she leaves in an hour you'd best hurry if that is okay with you? Miss Anastasia?."
"Please call me Anna, and yes that's fine thank you!"
"Oh your quite welcome! Remember to ask for Matilda she's the one who does the interviews."
"Okay thank you!. Bye."
As the phone call ended and static was heard from the other end Anna squealed in excitement.
She practically ran to the building, pushing people out of her way constantly apologizing for being to rude. The icy cold breeze swept across her face making it feel ice cold, numb, and a bit tired. But she wasn't giving up that easily, nothing was going to stop her from getting this job not even if there was a snow storm.
Anna's eyes widened at the sight of the building, she had never actually been inside she just found the place by mistake on the internet and thought nothing of it being...being as what it was in this moment.
The doors were covered in ice as if hardly anyone had used them in quite some time, the steps of the entrance were shattered and broken, the bricks of the building were all chipped and had rust draining down the sides probably from a drain leakage which they clearly never fixed.
"Man...this place doesn't look very clean to me..."
Anna whispered to herself slowly making her way up the cracked steps feeling a little worried now for even coming here.
"Um..hello?."
She shouted as she as an echo filled the room.
"My names Anna-
"Oh Anastasia!. It's so nice to finally meet you!
My names Matilda you'll be having your interview with me today im the main boss."
"Oh um-hi-
"Follow me into the office, come, come."
Giving an uncomfortable and strange look Anna followed Matilda into her office.
Anna observed this Matilda women to try and determine what kind of person she may be, it was quite easy for her to imagine the person's personality based off of their clothing as crazy as that sounded. She wore a long light brown trench coat, as if she was in London which Anna found a bit silly but she was never to judge a person for their style. Next, she had noticed the plain black tank top that was being worn under it, it was awful cold for that...perhaps that's why she had such a extravagant coat on?. Her black boots were rummaged with tears and thorns as if she was broke but didn't want to admit it to herself. Her Red auburn hair was in a low ponytail as if she hadn't had the time nor the energy to fix it up. Her faded out blue jeans were growing a bit baggy...but then again some people liked their pants that way.
"Please sit, now Anastasia-
Matilda said breaking Anna out of her thoughts.
"Um-actually not to be rude by interpreting you but...I kind of like to go by Anna. Not Anastasia."
Matilda gave a mean glare to Anna.
"Listen, Our business is low already, having a girl who not only is beautiful but who's name is also beautiful? Imagine how much business we'll get when people see a new face. As far as I'm concerned your Anastasia here, you can be Anna elsewhere. Okay?.
"Um...okay?."
Thirty minutes to an hour later after the paper work Anna left, exhausted and drained she unlocked the door to her apartment and fell asleep on her nice queen sized bed. Nobody lives with her she just likes the extra space in bed.
The next morning Anna woke up, ready to start her new job, or well almost ready, she stepped into the bathroom, did the normal routine of brushing her teeth, taking a shower, brushing her short blondish pink hair, cleaning her glasses, etc.
when she was done, she grabbed her coat off from her rack and headed towards her newest job for training!.
Opening the still frozen shut door she spotted Matilda.
"Matilda! Hey!."
"Anastasia."
Matilda said faking a smile.
"So glad to see you made it here on time, now here are the rules, today you will be working the day shift part of the job, and tomorrow will be the nights got it?
You will train with a guy named Shawn. He's very sweet and should show you everything you need to know before the weeks over. Good luck!."
"Oh um okay.'' Anna said as she watched Matilda walk away looking cocky as ever.
"So rude...now where is this Shawn guy?. "
Anna walked her way through the halls, up the many, many stairs feeling hopeless she gave up on her search and decide to look for somebody else to make it through the day.
Anna knocked on several doors, when nobody answered her stomach growled and she had the sudden urge to pee, reaching into her pocket her eye's went wide as she had realized she had already been there for about 3 hours, not having a single thing done sighing she looked for the nearest restroom and debated whether or not she should go home.
It was a uni-sex bathroom unfortunate for her luck, opening the door she switched the lights on, and looked for the lock on the door, but it appeared to be broken. Rolling her eye's she looked around the room and sighed.
"Great now some pervert is going to walk in on me."
Just as Anna had finished she heard 2 loud voices echoing, nearer and nearer to where she was in a panic she flushed the toilet, pulled down her dark blue jeans, and washed her hands just as she was about to throw away the paper towels and rush out of there somebody had opened the door. She stood there wide eyed as she was staring up at a man who had dark brown hair, bluish green eye's and wore a uniformed shirt.
Mentally face palming herself out of embarrassment she smiled and pushed herself out of the man's way, having the other guy stare at her in wonder and curiosity.
An arm lunged out in front of her and pulled her back into the bathroom, the door closed.
"Let me go!. You pervert!."
The man glared.
"Am Not! Who are you?."
flipping her hair she felt sassy.
"Anna. It's my first day I was supposed to train with some guy named Shawn but I couldn't find him."
His eyes widened. "My name's Shawn."
